got a few ideas like rebuiling the tranny cover, but thought I would ask if anyone has ideas.. I cut quite a bit of my tranny hump out to raise my tranny/t cases and it has weakened the floor some, (mainly pas side.) didnt really notice it till my 275lb buddy got in, and my rear d shaft yoke bumped the floor, it only had about 3/4" of clearance which I am sure wasnt enough..before his large arse got in.. I had planned on a 16 ga steel re build of the tunnell but not sure if I need to do more, maybe run something across the tunnell where the front of the seat mounts are..or about where the rear mounts are, I will go ahead and cut farther back on the tunnell to clear the yoke before I rebuild the tunnell... any ideas or experience in this ??? other than banning my bud from the pass seat........ :D tks Dave

there is a double layer of sheetmetal right by the rear seat mounts. You should really try to get the strength back in that area. You could take some thinner flat stock and stitch weld it to the floor from one side of the tranny tunnel to the other. Start near the body mount and wrap forward towards the seat mounts then, back towards the bodymout for the most strength. :2cents:

The best option would be to remove the floorboard in favor of something better, but that involves way more work.

The truck in the avatar is what you are working on? So it has a cage and doesn't need to look stock?

If so with the cage you can run a tube under the seats and tie into the cage. Make the tube cross all the way under both seats and loop over the tunnel. If you haven't filled the tranny hole from raising the drivetrain the tube will give you a base to build off for that also.

If you don't want to fab something up,

I have some old floor parts you could just weld to your existing.

thanks Bryant, it would take a military trailer to haul his big butt around...put a helment on him and let him hang on... lol!!

Jay, yea.. its the avatar truck.. the tunnel is full of tranny/tcases actually only the bottom half of it is left, no it doesnt need to look stock at all but fairly clean would be nice. I think I may do as gittinit said and band it with flat stock.. I cut it back to clear the yoke Sunday and I think its not as weak as I thought it was.. but closer to the yoke..
