loaded up truck sunday and got out of the heat for awhile. took scooter and did some single track around the peaks. had and interesting conversation with a ranger.
new AZ state law. any motorized vehicle on the fsr roads or even the single track trails must be registered and have a MC street legal plate plate on them. must also have a OHV stamp or tag on that plate. now it dosent have to pass inspection to be street legal, head-tail light, t/s, brake light mirror etc. but it must be plated.
the good news is they are not shutting down the forest in sept like origianlly planned. they are going keep the area open and preform their 'evaluation" of the area.
there were more mountain bikes on the trails than i think ive ever seen. most were already off the trail watching us "freight train" by. but i did have some that wouldnt move off the trail when coming in opposite direction, now i understand that its just as much their trail as mine but some of these guys are gonna get hurt.

anyways, the weather was awesome, light showers, mid 80's and breezy

I might be wrong but you either need a street legal bike/quad with a MC plate and insurance and no sticker, I think the sticker is for the quads running only an RV plate and is not for road use.

Never mind sticker is required.
"The OHV Decal is a sticker that must be purchased annually for $25 to allow your OHV to be operated within Arizona. The decal will need to be applied to the upper left corner of your license plate, and your license plate will need to be visibly displayed on the rear of your OHV. The dollars collected through the purchase of the OHV Decal are considered an OHV user fee and apply to all OHVs meeting the bulleted criteria in the following paragraph. The OHV Decal should not be confused with “registration.” Registration is required if you want your OHV to be “street legal” (i.e., operate it on paved and improved roads and streets.) and you'll still need to obtain the OHV Decal."

I guess it went in effect in January. It also does not apply to passenger vehicles.

With just an RV plate, yes. The sticker is required.

BUT.....

I just licensed my quads for street, with insurance AND MC plates.

The OHV sticker is STILL required!

I have a MC plate with 2 stickers, upper right for registration tag, OHV upper left.

MC plate is NOT reuired for quad for off-road, only RV (with OHV sticker)
