I think we need to have a club get-together this year. We're at the point where we have enough members to have a decent turnout.
I know this has been in talks, and I've heard a lot of ideas. Shall we put them all together?

I'm guessing you're talking more about a get together and wheel/camp weekend, not anything fancy. I don't believe we can handle any more organizing this year. We definitely should all get together this fall without the hassle of raffles, shirts, dinners, etc. I'm thinking we should hit up Cass or Disney. I'd like to wheel some different places than superlift every time.

i vote November / Ouachita National Forest, lots of places along the trail that can handle a cookout and 20-30 trucks

no dinners, no raffles just US together for some trails and a cookout, just a burger and dog sorta thing

This sounds cool. Where/what part of the nf? Josh and I ran a gnarly hill climb outside of Jessieville. I would like to see more of that, if it isn't closed or something.

I'm game for something like this. Cass or ONF would be cool. We could stay out at Albert Pike (in the ONF) on the Little MO River near the Little MO Falls and Wolf Pen Gap (which has some trails).
I vote self-sufficient. Bring your own food. I don't mind a large grill or fire pit to cook on, but I ain't bringing or cooking your food. :p
Time frame? November is probably good, just not too late. The GATOR weekend would be good since that's when we usually have our annual chapter run, but it might be too soon. IDK.
I'd like to wheel some different places than superlift every time.
x2 on that. I've only been to Gilmer and Hot Springs and would like to see a few other places.
Jordan7118
08-13-2009, 12:59 PM
Disney is cool and only 1.5 hours from Fayetteville, but that's in Oklahoma and too far for many people.
I'd like to do the ONF. I've never been there, and it would be a cool trip to do some "lighter" wheeling for me.
No raffle, no organizing other than "we'll be here XX:XX". We need a light weekend to just hang out, camp, and wheel some.
Cass is cool. I'm in agreeance that SL is out due to how often we are there.
domino
08-13-2009, 01:03 PM
The key factor on where to go is: Are we going to wheel? Or just to hang out, camp, and maybe do some easy trail running? I'm up for either one, but if we're wanting to get some good wheeling in, Cass is probably a better place to go.

4Wheel Parts and Superlift Customer Appreciation Run September 4-7th
GATOR September 24-27th
Southern Cruiser Crawl October 9th-11th
Rocktoberfest October 30-31st
I think most of us are planning on making it to SCC. We'll probably either need to go in early-mid September or late October-mid November. That way we don't stack our trips up too much.

The thing to think about around the ONF is hunting season.. be sure and have it early enough so that you don't have to worry about encounters with hunters or anything if you do any exploring. I don't think it is allowed in the forest, but that doesn't mean you might not run into some around. I'd definitely be able to swing by and meet everybody if you go to Albert Pike.. that's pretty close to home for me! They have some nice new RV sites if anybody is going to be going that route.

you can enter the ONF not too far from LittleRock on hwy 9 and go all the way to Oklahoma (Wolf Pen) and never drive on a paved road :D i LIKE THAT

Just bumping this thread. A few of us LR guys had lunch together Friday and were giving this some more thought. We were thinking Cass might be a good place to go around the time of the GATOR, since some of us are on a limited budget and can't afford to go all the way to Seymour. How does meeting up in Cass Friday afternoon/evening for camping/wheelin' sound?

Sounds great to me. Are we talking Friday the 25th of September?
Do we go to Byrds for trail maps/camping spots?

I'm just hoping that date's not too early for some or too close to SCC. That puts us at 2 trips within 3 weeks. Some of the womenfolks may not be too happy about that.
And you can camp right at byrd's. They have established campsites there. I'm not sure if you're allowed to camp in the National Forest, but I think it may be allowed. That just depends on what everyone wants as far as amenities.

You are probably right about that, I didn't really think about that. I was just looking at my September calendar, and there is tons of stuff going on. I was just trying to throw a date out there to get people to thinking. It doesn't have to be in stone, I just don't want it to get forgotten about like most "non-official" things.

If we could have a later date, that would be great. I think Snoop is slated to get a serious rebuild after only 8 months of wheeling
Aaron, why Byrd's instead of Cass? I'm just curious as to what they have instead of Cass. I might bring the Taco and do some real mild wheeling. Like 1 and 2's kinda wheeling. I'll even bring my flat bill to hit those bunny slopes :p

I think if we were to go in September we could do more. I would love to get out there to wade fish and swim. I love to fish for Smallmouth Bass and the Mullberry is supposed to be great. It's gonna be to cold for in November when would be able to get another trip together.
Heck I'll bring the Yaris and just camp and fish. Maybe do some 1s and 2s in it :D

Cass is just the general area in the National Forest we'd be in. Byrd's is the name of the "off-road park" and is a major campground in the area. If we're wanting to wheel the marked and organized trails, we'd be paying byrd's $10/day for access.

Looking at my calendar, the whole month of October is probably out. We can't go the 10th (SCC) or the weekends surrounding it. We can't go the 31st (Rocktoberfest). The 24th could be a possibility, but there's probably going to be a bunch of people there then too.
My vote: September 19th (could be too early/ still hot) or November 7

Probably not during deer season though. :(
That's the downside to doing it in November - competing with hunters. We'll all have to wear blaze orange to crawl out in the woods to poop.

Not trying to sound rude, but all of us wont be able to make it on a set date. Whether it is September or November or even Febuary of next year. I am going camping in September 25-27th at Byrd's.
I won't be able to go November 7th. Plus we don't want to compete with the deer hunters and camping spots. I can see them now "those dang offroaders out scaring all the deer away!!!!"
Just my two cents...

Sounds like a plan. I don't want people to choose this over GATOR if they are going to GATOR, but if you don't have the funds to attend that event and you want to wheel/camp/etc, then this would be perfect.

i'm 99% sure when i blew the headgasket awhile back it got hot enough then that it cracked the piston, then over time it finally broke. also found out the KeithBlack pistons ive been running the last 3 or 4 years were designed to run 1 maybe 2 races and be dumped. so they have LONG outlasted their usefulness
i have a guy on Marlin that does stuff with Fire Guys Racing, he thinks he can get me some replacement pistons for a C note, if he can :woot: I'll be good, well maybe
if not then i'll have to find another engine, already got my scrap yard friend keeping his eyes peeled,

Sometimes it can take some work to get those guys out. A lot of them don't spend much time on our little corner of the board. I had to PM everybody to let them know about my last little event up that way.

I reserved 8 campsites under TTORA's name. Me and the lady had planned to leave this week, but it is probably going to rain all week. So I might be leaving with you Lance?

That sucks, man. I could go the rest of the year and be happy with no more rain. I heard that we have already exceeded last year's total. And I thought we had a lot last year!
Meeting up Friday morning would be fine with me. As we get closer to time, we can figure out an exact exit LR strategy.

Weak. A small little rust crack kept you from wheelin? If anything, you should wheel as much as you can before they buy your Taco or replace your frame!!!
I had a blast with you guys. MVP of the weekend goes to Sean who cooked food Friday night, breakfast Saturday morning, and even gave us food for lunch!

-Josh do you have any that you took?
On a side note.... Got on a trail this morning that was a little tougher than what I can run. No pics but a little body damage to remember it. Big thanks to Levi helping me out of it today and spotting me through it all. He's the shizznit!

Yeah, carry a spare, but not a 35 mm socket :( It was a different trail Josh. I went up the other side of the trail u are talking about. The trail I did it on was a 4, and i was backing up off camber and turned almost at full lock. I am pretty sure that it happened with the front locker off.

3rd picture down is hells revenge and thats the easy part. When you get to the top if you go to the left and follow it all the way up it gets rediculious. Most of the guys I've been with up that trail are running 38's-49's and crazy built rigs and still have a hell of a time making it all the way to the top. Wish I could have joined yall but maybe next time.

Your other link had IMG tags when it should have had URL tags.
