if you put the ifs hub assembly on a 79-85 axle does it have a wider stance?

yes. 2.75" total. Making the axle 58.25" from 55.5"

But you have to work out the brake rotor to caliper alignment.

Sky has a spacer kit, or you can bolt the caliper to the other side of the mount on the knuckle.
