Hey all,

I have a Leer canopy on my truck and find it frustrating when I'm driving down these rainy Seattle roads, and the rear window of the canopy becomes pretty much useless due to the road spray that plasters it when doing freeway speeds.

So my question for all you knowledgable folks is how can I defeat this?? I've seen wind deflectors that are sold for 4Runners, that are supposed to deflect dust off the rear window. Anybody tried one of these on a canopy? Any luck with them in the rain? I've also scoured the internet for some sort of remote wiper, but no luck so far.

Thanks for any input,

Beave

Had one on a cap on my '95. When it rained, everything that came across the roof ended up running down the rear window. Worse, if anything. I was thinking about rigging up a wiper for my '03. I've seen universal ones, just too lazy to do it.

I get the same thing with mine in rain and on slushy roads. The only cure is Rain-X and/or a rear wiper.

This summer I am going to get a wiper installed on mine by the dealer.

The dealer offers a wiper??!! As in your canopy dealer?? Thats great news! Who did you buy your canopy from?

Thanks,

Beave

The dealer offers a wiper??!!

It's an option on some of the canopies I looked at, so I assume they can make it fit onto my canopy.

I'll look more into it when I'm back in the place where I got the canopy.

Anything new on the wiper option?

Still looking for kits. I can find pictures of canopies with wipers, but have not found it as an option.

Here is the A.R.E. keyless entry system and a wiper setup:

While the keyless entry is pretty cool and would be nice to have, seeing the wiper and not finding any info on it is frustrating, to say the least.

Do a search for "wiper" on the upper left hand of the screen. It comes up with two results, which say "wiper", but I cannot find it on the goddam list!

Yeah, that is frustrating. I wrote A.R.E. an email. If they can do it, I am buying it!!

I am going to look for a local dealer and see if they can get their hands on one. I seriously need one!

I found this under the "New Products" area. While the wiper is not pictured, it IS specifically mentioned. Check it out. Looks like it's on the "Z" Series.

Good find! I can't beleive that the announcement is almost 4 years old and I can't find any info on wipers for canopies or the actual option on the website. Weird!

I am going to call and inquire about it.

Right on man.... Please post whatever you find out. I'd be interested to know how they go about wiring it in i.e. switches etc, and of course how much $$ is gonna cost me.

Thanks,

I got a reply from ARE today. No wiper option is available (at least for my doublecab)
Oh well.... Somebody will invent this option SOME day and become very wealthy for it. Their loss!

Man, what morons. Their website is FUBAR for showing you what is actually available, and then they go and tell you it's not available, when they announced it being available 4 years ago!

Douchebags!

That's another idea.

One way or another, I'm gonna find something that will work.
