Can you put a detroit in an e-locked 9.5" rear third from a 1997 landcruiser? forget about shafts or housing issues. I have a elocked third that will go in a diamond housing and am reading horror stories about twisted shafts, so am wondering if i can swap in a detroit so i can avoid losing the $1000 i spent on these axles.
I wouldn't worry about and just run it, you could always sell the diff or trade someone for an open one. Hell I have 2 4.10 9.5 diffs sitting in my shop that I would love to trade for an elocker 9.5 to go in my FJ62 front axle.
You still want to get rid of that rear housing? I have a bare open 9.5" 3rd, but shipping would probably be a bitch, and I'll need it eventually anyway.
You probably could put another diff in it, I think JT's said only the carrier bearings were different between open and E-locker 3rds. But obviously, that would be financially goofy to do.
Hey, well im not sure which parts you are after but i will be using the hubs and ebrake components. Everything else is up for grabs but im sure its the hubs you're after. I know i said id hook u up and i do apologize; i didnt know i would need the hubs at that time.
Hey, you still interested in the housing? you want the whole thing? pm me, looks like i might be going a different route at this point if i can find a buyer for this rear.
