Kaito, eton, I have no idea what is good or bad or what to look for? I definantly want shortwave abilities and weather reports.

In my Bug-Out kit, I have an Eton FR400. I think it's an ideal emergency radio.

Emergency siren
Water resistant
LED flashlight
Cell phone charger
Can receive power from four different sources: built-in rechargeable Ni-MH battery that takes charge from the dynamo crank and an AC adapter; 3 "AA" batteries; the A/C adapter alone or the dynamo crank alone
AM/FM, NOAA weather channels, and TV-VHF channels
Small / light weight - Dimensions: 8.6 x 4.5 x 2.0 inches (WxHxD); weighs 1.5 pounds

If it's short-wave you're interested in, I've heard good things about this one:

...The down side of using this as a "survival radio" is that you have to have batteries or a power source. The good thing about the Eton, is that it's capable of generating it's own power. :dunno:

...I've never seen that one. I think I'd rather have that than the one I got!

I know what I want for Christmas!

The SolarLink 600 edition seems to be the most feature packed. There is also one that features a GMRS 2-way radio

The one with the 2 way radio does not have shortwave unfortunantly. Is there any difference between the fr500 and 600?

Shortwave is good so we can hear news from other countries in case of war or rebellion or disaster.

That is nice... too bad I have a similar one that Jamie posted up.
I think mine is a few years older... I had it for a while now.

Maybe I need to get a "newer" version.... "HEY HONEY!!!!...." :D
