So I snapped off the exterior door handle tonight. Am I right thinking I need to take off the door panel and get at it from the inside? Anybody else done this? Anything particularly hard about installing a new one? Anybody have one they want to get rid of? They're only about $10 bucks online, but if you have one laying around for a 2001 tacoma....

Yeah you will need to take the inside pannel off.

Watch out for those stupid snap deals, I always seem to break one when i try to pop that off.

Good luck

Frozen door this morning?

Actually, it's felt like it was going to go for a few days now, I think the cold last night was the final straw.

Me too. My bro has the tool for it though, that seems to make it easier. I'll be seeing him in a few days, hopefully that will let me keep it intact.

So do you have to get in from the passenger side till you fix it? Too bad it isn't summer and you could just dukes of hazzard it!

.....or leave the window down and open it from the inside.....

dukes of hazzard is fun but a) I probably wouldn't fit, and b)the dukes never dealt with -10F weather. I actually can open it from outside using a leatherman to pull the piece out and then lifting up, but it's still kind of a pain in the ass. It will also open from inside so I can reach across and open it to remove climbing over stuff from the equation. I'm not really looking forward to fixing it outside though- I have no garage. I may wait a few weeks and do it at my folks when I go there for x-mas.

I have no idea if door handles off of a 90 will work. Anyone know? I broke the plastic piece that you lift up, so I think I need the whole mechanism. Just from looking at the pics on the web, it seems different. Thanks for the offer, I sent a PM
