View Full Version : Nominations for AR-TTORA Vice President

Well, after a 1.5 year run at being the AR-TTORA VP, I think it's time to step down and let one of you well capable individuals run for club VP. I'm in no way disappointed or disgruntled with the club or any members. I just feel it's only fair to rotate the position around for the health of the club.
Here's the process we're going to use:
1. Nominate someone, either by posting here, or PM me.
2. On Jan 27, I'll list the 3 folks that got the most nominations. You will then have 2 weeks to send your vote (only vote for one of the 3) via PM to me.
3. I will stop accepting PM votes on Feb 10. The new VP will be announced on Feb 13.
4. Nominations do not count as votes, and any votes sent to me before Jan 27 will be considered null and void.
5. Current officers (Glen, me, and Lance) have the right to deny any nominations - mostly for reasons like "too new to the club", "never wheels", "is MIA (no web or event presence in some time)", etc.
As for what the VP does, lets just say a little bit of everything. I know of a few good members that would work well in this position.
Good luck! :)

I appreciate the nominations guys, but I think I would be best served to stay in my current position of Treasurer.

Why don't we just have total re-election while we're at it? That way each position could have a change of scenery :dunno:
Just a thought...

Too much change all at one time may not be the best idea. Having elections on odd years for pres and vp would be the only way to do something like that, but I think our current leadership is doing a great job. Unless someone is just not doing their job, it's customary to let them serve until they decide they are no longer able or willing to perform their duties.

Yea, odd / even is probably best.
I didn't know that was the customary thing to do. Most other clubs I'm involved with have elections every year regardless. Then again, they have a lot more members to choose from and can rotate the irons in the fire a little more. It's whatever. Just trying to give Glen a heart attack
Just kidding :o

I'm shure we will be seeing more and more of these changes. I hate to see josh move on but once he is out of one office he may be a canidate for the next opening. I belive he is doing the right thing by rotating the office through. His timing may be a little off with april coming really soon, but it was his office to give up.

Maybe I'm planning a new VP hazing/initiation process to the April event. :xdevil::whip:

i would really like our club/chapter to be about wheeling not alot of political garbage.
I dont want Josh to step down but he feels other wise, I personally dont think anyone can do the awesome job Josh has done. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd137/79coyotefrg/smilies/down.gif

I don't want political garbage either. But, I don't think this what this is. Josh just feels like he would like to step back in a lesser role and let someone else step in and help out. He thinks a couple different peeps might spark more creativity.
He isn't going anywhere, he'll still be one of us.
I think Aaron would be great to step in and try his talents.

The political garbage is what it is and there is no way around it unless we are making this a dictatorship. There has to be a level of involvement from all members in order to make things work. Unless we decide on some ground rules for club offices then this is the way its gonna have to go about happening.
Some structure to electing offices, and office terms might be a better idea. With some structure to it, we would be better prepared for these changes. We could rotate club officials through the ranks regularly, or just have election dates setup on a regular basis...anything is possible, but its gonna take a little bit of politics and some voting to make it all come about.
Last but not least...Props to Josh, You are the man!

First off, I'm not trying to cause a riot or any political garbage, I'm just trying to give others the chance to be a part of this club in a larger manner than just posting on the forum and wheeling their junk.
No matter what, political garbage and drama will appear anytime there's a defined leadership role, or group or leaders. Heck, even my Sunday School class at church has issues surrounding the leadership of it once and a while.
The key is handling it in a civil manner that's agreeable to everyone. By posting this thread, I was hoping that we could give the whole club a chance at being a part of this process, so that the best person could be found and voted into the VP slot. I could have been flaky and just quit or disappeared forcing Glen to appoint a new VP (similar to the way I was appointed - http://ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102254).
Sorry for the drama, but I felt it was time for me to "spectate" for awhile, and this thread has made some very good points.
PS - I'm not going anywhere. :)

Lets just focus on one election for now. If the group feels the need to have regular elections, we can discuss that at our next get-together/meeting.
Edit: so how many people can we nominate here? There's a few that I think would do a good job in this role.

As many as you want to. When it comes to voting, you only get one vote though.
