anyone know why the 2006 v8 tundras and 4 runners are rated at only 270hp whereas the 2005's are rated at 282hp?

sorry if this is repost, i've been out of the loop for a while.

There is a big discussion about this over at TS, but the short answer is that toyota changed the way they mesaure the HP. I guess all manufactuers are required to rate HP with all of the accessories that come on the engine, IE - Alternator, PS Pump, ect ect.

Its the same engine with the same power as before, just measured differently.

ah interesting....so hows the tundra coming along? i'm thinking of getting one myself but can't decide between getting a tundra or buying a commuter and keeping the taco.

Maybe you should wait for the Tundra Diesel...

I have yet to see anything difentive about the tundra diesel for 07, my guess is thats it rumor more than anything. But it would be nice.

As for the Tundra, it is much larger than the taco but it sure is nice. My decesion was between an 05 Tacoma and 05 Tundra, i liked the Tacoma's but the Dealer wouldn't deal on them. In the end I got my tundra for 1800 less than the dealer would go on a Tacoma. Plus i got a sunroof, which you cant get in a taco. Now that I have had it a month or so I am really glad I got the tundra. Is soooo smooth on the freeway. And when you want it to go it goes.

yea, the diesel would be nice but not the best for my situation. i don't plan on owning the truck long enough to recoup the diff in price through mpgs and don't want to deal with the more expensive diesel maintenance. plus i don't have anything big enough to tow to require a diesel.

But if you had a diesel, then you would need to a big trailer to tow :)

ha, i'd rather save my pennies for an rv. speaking of bigger trailers, isn't it about time for your to ditch the 18' for a 21'?
