So, I fixed my e-locker. It wasn't mechanical at all!!! It seemed odd that the indicator lights weren't even coming on so, I figured it had to be electrical. I did some continuity testing and found that the locker wasn't even getting any power. I started thinking about the grey wire mod I did years ago and thought I'd undo it just for kicks. Well, that was my problem. I'm thinking something is shorting out somewhere on the body/frame which directly affects my other problem. . . . . antenna tuning!!! I have no idea where to start looking for this damn short. Is there a systematic way of doing this? Any input? Meanwhile, I can only use the locker in 4L. It'll take some getting used to.

Honestly, I never felt like the gray wire mod was needed.. Just my :2cents:
I look at it as if, The only times I have need the locker is when I’m in 4Lo and at no other time... If I need more traction on the fly, I just hit the 4Hi button.. I the 5 years I’ve had my truck I have never found myself wishing I had the gray wire mod (Locker in 2wd).. So in my opinion just get used to it…:D

It's most likely a bad ground somewhere...
If you do a search on the National Board you're going to find a ton of info on guys troubleshooting a bad ground.

I've used it countless times in 4H. It just makes things easier. Maybe this will make me become a better driver? :dunno:

What type of stuff you doin that necessitates needing the rear locker in 4hi? I don't remember what it was like driving without a locker :p but I don't recall many flexed out 1 tire fire situations where 4x4 wouldn't outweigh the locker. Again 4hi not low. I'm normally in 4lo even between obstacles, 4hi always lugs and I hate staying in 1st :2cents:

I have used my locker in 4-Hi countless times. Like Sparky said - it just makes things easier sometimes. Sometimes I want to carry a little more speed through an obstacle that my 4-Lo is capable of.

I think that using the Locker in 2wd just puts too much stress on the R&P. Really the only time I could see it being used in 2wd is if you’re pulling a boat out of a lake or something along those lines. But then again I could always just hit the 4Hi button.. So I still feel it's not needed...:p

In your defense. . . your 4L is pretty low.

Well that makes me feel a little bit better about the strength of my Elocker. I have just seen people showing off by trying to make up a lose and rocky hill with just the Locker and 2wd, than about half way up the R&P went Kaboommm... That is why I assumed it was not a good idea to beat on the taco with the locker in 2x.

I did it in 2wd without a locker. Then I had to go home early. :(

Yes you are correct Scuba... that was definitely the case... I still back my original opinion though....:flipoff1:

Yeah - if you're stupid, and you do something retarded like bounce backwards while hammering on the throttle, trying to do a hill climb, it won't matter if you're locked or not - you'll still blow the R&P.

hahahaha that’s awesome.... I was surprised that it took out both the front and the rear R&P... But none the less that was a great video to get me laughing at work...
