I have some broken front wheel studs on my FJ 40 due to a severe wobble in the front end. I was told to get rid of the factory steering and upgrade to a power steering set up to do away with this wobble. Any input on this would be much appreciated. But my question is this; how do I go about getting the axle out to change the studs?
Did you break the wheel studs as in where the wheel bolts down or you broke the steering arm studs?
If you are having front end "death wobble" problems bad enough to break stuff then power steering might not be the end all fix. You need to inspect each and every piece of the steering components to see where the problem lies.
Also what year fj40? Larger than stock tires? Completely stock steering?
yep, 99% sure that you need to do a complete rebuild of your knuckles
