I wonder which routes and "decomissioned roads" they are really talking about . the "friends of nevada wilderness and undoubtably no friends of our OHV community.

here is just an example of mindsets of those who would work to correct our definition of "multi use"

"["The worshippers of “multiple use” pretend to represent a broad range of interests when they are, in reality, supporting special, single use or abuse of public land we all own. "]

Yet it is clear that they operate under this exact same same mindset

["In the common vernacular, especially among those who favor commercial uses of public lands, “multiple use” means development instead of protection. What they really mean when then say, “muliple use” is “logging use” or “commercial use” or “motorized recreation use” or most appropriate, perhaps, “single use.” ]"

"[many miles of roads have been created over the years. In the Virgin River Valley, where recreational use is more concentrated (opal mining, campground, etc.) OHV damage from hill climbs and other off-road use is rapidly proliferating. The refuge has over 800 miles of roads and two tracks. As part of the upcoming comprehensive conservation the refuge is evaluating all of the roads, routes and trails within the refuge to determine if they are necessary for the operation of the refuge. Those user created routes that are determined to not be necessary could be restored and would lessen the habitat fragmentation]"

Obviously their Idea of "multiple use' are uses they enjoy and those only. Obviously multiple use doesnt include recreational OHV use and lumps us in with forest clear cutting and strip mining.

Lovell Canyon Route Restoration
Date: Saturday, June 19, 2010
Time: 8:00am to 4:00pm
Audience: Adults, Seniors, Groups, Families
Location: Lovell Canyon Rainbow Mountain Wilderness
Agency: US Forest Service & Bureau of Land Management (USFS & BLM)
Volunteer Work Type: Making a difference in the Rainbow Mountain Wilderness, route restoration and enjoying the great outdoors with folks that care.
Contact: Kurt Kuznicki Friends of Nevada Wilderness (775) 745-3119 for more information and to sign up.
We will be restoring some user-created routes & decommissioned roads in the Lovell Canyon area on the west side of the Spring Mountains near Mountain Springs. These routes were decommissioned a few years ago and need a little TLC to improve the Wilderness quality.

figure its time to get up there and see which roads they have attempted to close at their own whim as well as those actually decomissioned by the FS & BLM. we can easily use the MVUM as a referance guide.
