TC long kit how long of shock?...

Ok here's my deal I currently have the DR's on my truck but now have a CRACKED upper coild bucket (split open like a flower) so here's the deal. I'm going to get the TC kit and do an extended coil bucket mounts so i can run a 10" shock and dual coils just currious if anyone has done this or if it's possible or to do the dual springs does it have to be 12" , becuase either way i need to strengthen/remake my coil bucket and why not extend it into the engine area. If anyone has information or know of anyone that has done this please let me know..

cracked stock coil buckets are typical on tacomas when u start offroading it. ur best bet is not to extend the buckets, but make a shock hoop. also if ur going to do the work, make sure ur math is right when u are cycling ur suspension because its pointless in making hoops that does not use ur shock correctly. 12" shock imo is overkill and ur going to have so much shock and not use it bc the tc kit can only cycle a max of 13" bc of the uniball limiting it, and ur cv will begin to bind. stay with 10". if u go with a 12" u are possibly talking about making a complete engine cage (or mounts that go from one side to the other, with some typer of gusseting) for stonger support for the longer shock, and this will result in more money and time.

honestly i dont know about that, join the dezertrangers forum. there more guys will have input on dual coils. i only run and 8" shock siingle coil, and just waiting for my buckets to crack before i go an by a 10" shock (single coil)

yes you can run a dual rate 10" c/o that is what i bought for my tacoma most tc kits run a 8" but it is not that hard to switch to a 10" just fab up a shock hoop weld to frame and make sure you reinf. the to of the hoop to keep it from flexin in ward the other thing you might want to think about doing is adding more support to the front frame rails to keep the from bending in also but check out dezertrangers.com there is a thread up right now about shock hoops

hey well thanks for all the info, and if you have any ideas where i can get tundra axles too please let me know. I really don't want to spen 750 on axles from TC when i can convert them myself

used to be able to trade in your tacoma ones (tell them they're from tundra) for tundra ones at kragen/pepboys/etc, and all you had to pay was a $250 or so core exchange fee...but from what i've heard tundra axles are few and far between these days

Step up to 10" with custom upper mounts. Use a single 18" long coil 500 or 550 with a 4cly, or 600 with a 6 cyl. dual rate is nice, but not needed. The shock will only use 7" at full use of the 13.5 travel at the wheel. The dual rate would be to soft with the amount of leverage on the shock.
