View Full Version : A Good Front Axle

Well now that i have my taco i have 2 to 3 years to pay it off and get all the parts and stuff i need to do a sas. so my question is what is a good front axle that will keep my within the width or the same width as the back and will hold a tire upwards of a 37 to a 39 (i want some bfg krawlers or those new mud terrains)

SEARCH!!!!! but here is your answer. a waggy Dana 44 Non-Vaccumm assist with Driver Side Diff. Look for them in 1980 - I believe 1990 Jeep Grand Waggoneer. Some will tell you to look for the Wide track version or just get a custom built axle like www.diamondaxle.com

For 37s or 40s you're going to either want a very heavilty built Dana 44 from a '73-'75 Ford F100 or F150. However, a mildly built Dana 60 from a '78-'79 Ford F250/F350 will handle the tires equally if not better, and possibly for less money, but will not have the same amount of ground clearance.
