I can't figure out the wiring for my washer fluid tank. it didn't have one when i bought it so i'm kinda starting from scratch. on my '84 2wd, the wires come out of the body harness near the passenger headlight but i can't find the wires anywhere on my 4runner harness of the same year. any ideas?

if they don't exist, it's not going to be fun to run them.

In my 85 (which I think has the same wiring diagrams as the 84 runner) those wires run along the firewall behind the dash to the steering wheel. I know on mine that harness runs along the top too, so I'd bet you're looking at pulling the whole dash apart to get to the harness so you can trace from the steering wheel bundles back thru to find them.

Here's a link to find the FSM wiring diagrams : http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/index.html

Just run 2 wires outside of the main harness. It will be a lot easier. That circuit is just a simple 2 wire positive negative with a momentary on switch (i.e. The button) and a fuse. Bypass the harness and you will be done in no time.

Doesn't it also trigger the wiper motor? or did they not have that luxury back then?

ok thanks guys i think i will just run new wires, seems like the easiest fix. Doug, i don't think the wiper motor is activated by the fluid button on mine....that maybe something that was on the SR5s? i'm pretty sure my 86 Sr5 had that
