Just want to say thanks to Chris and Teren for building me a prototype traction bar as well as a full underbelley skid system :welder: :saw: :saw: :welder:
Chris even took the time to build me quarter panel protection out of some scrap he had laying around, just to get me out on the trails :driving:
heres some pics, i still need to get some of the skid system

I saw RJ's T-Bar few days back and that baby looks stout as hell. Nice... Makes me feel a little envious... :p
RJ, sorry 'bout that grille deal. But I appreciate your honesty and integrity... :)

Looks like a strong bumper but doesn't it kill your departure angle??

i took my stock bumper off and flipped the hitch over
http://tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16526
that gained me about 3-4" of clearance to the bottom of the hitch
chris added the quarter panel protection so i wouldnt get stuck on my panels

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you do something with the hitch receiver so that it doesn't hang down so low? I see you did the hi-clearancing of the bed (which looks good, by the way), but it seems like you'll still be dragging that ass end a lot on it. I realize you gained a few inches by flipping it, but it seems like you would've gone ahead and raised up nearly even with the rest of the bumper while you were getting stuff chopped and welded.

Is the shackle at the front of the traction bar parallel to the ground?

If you read his original post, he bought a traction bar and skid protection (not pictured). The quarter panel protection was welded together from scrap to his existing "bumper" which is actually just his receiver flipped over to gain some additional clearance.
Therefore, the post is more about his new traction bar and underbelly protection, which btw, I would like to see pictures of (hint hint), and less about the ugly, yet functional aspects of his "bumper".

Yes, please do excuse me for having a question about the bumper/receiver which is part of the quarter panel protection. How insensitive of me to post such a ridiculous thing.
Off Axis does do some great work. My new bed bar and sliders.

yup, it was just a last minute spur of the moment thing. i was looking at it and i should be able to cut the brackets and bring it up another 2-3", but thats another project

no its not, i still need to find the right adjustment on the heim, its sitting too short right now. it flipped down, it was supposed to pivot up. minor difficulties, as this was a total prototype

I guess it won't be too much longer before they're sponsors on the board? Another quality sponsor is always a good thing.

Cool. I wasn't sure if maybe you wanted it like that for a particular reason, or if it was a time/money/materials constraint issue. I've had plenty of those lately. It's why my front bumper still needs to be clean up and painted, and why I still don't have the floor done in my tube bed, and haven't gotten around to the spring swap, and... LOL

What about that shakle angle? any I'll effects? Looks like we are not making it to JV. :( too much to do before the Anza Run and I still need to pull my rear 3rd to replace that seal. Oh and well I don't exactly want to listen to the Uniballs screatching on the trail. I HOPE to have them replaced in a couple weeks!

havent seen any ill effects yet, but im still going to flip it back up and make the adjustment on the heim longer. hopefully thats all it needs.
i still need to grease up all the bushings, but i cant do the shackle bushing till i get it flipped back up and also buy a zirk.
i love the skids too, i managed to hit them a couple times :xrocker: :driving:
