I think I read somewhere that the airbag needs some kind of maintinance at 100k or thereabouts. My airbag warning light is on all the time and I've been putting off going to the stealership. 3.4, 5 SP., ext. cab, 4x4, 187k. Let me know if this is a dealership task. Thank you.
You might have a broken spiral cable. Your airbag may not work if you get in a accident. Do your horn or cruise (if you have it) work? Get a diagnostic ran to be sure. It could be a couple other things as well.
Assuming this is your problem, its a spendy fix, but if you do the work yourself it will save you some $.
The Service Manual says the airbags should be serviced after 10yrs. I've never done it and my truck is going on 17yrs. Sounds like its more about safety assurance and piece of mind.
Hmm. My cruise control has not worked since Thanksgiving night. The airbag dash light started intermittently blinking 6 months before that. Can the two really be related? Damn Tacoma, thought it'd last forever. I guess next time I'll buy a Volvo, lol.
So its a blinking light, not solid, right? The airbag sensor assembly
has detected a malfunction code. Get a diagnostic ran, could be a number of things. Seat belt fault, airbag sensor assembly, wire harness...
Took the truck to the local parts house and the only code found was a "faulty gas cap" or some other evaporation system problem, but truck runs fine as far as I can tell. Cruise Control light blinks very slowly when the CC switch is pushed on, no CC of course. Dash airbag light is on study. Maybe I should read my owners manual? Hmm. Thanks to all for helping me try to track down this problem.
X2 ^^^^
You need to go to the stealership to get all your codes read.
