Ok so my bearing is making all kinds of noise when the clutch pedal is not compressed. I planned on buying a new bearing from Toyota and replacing the one that's in there. I used a Aisin clutch kit not too long ago when I replaced the clutch with a buddy of mine. I'm unsure if the bearing from the dealership will fit properly or not. Can I do this? ShowStop...care to chime in?
The OEM bearing is an NSK brand bearing which I highly recommend. I never asked what bearing came with the Aisin kit you installed previously, but if it was a cheap bearing, then this comes as no surprise. Also, you messed around with the clutch pedal adjustment after the install. I'm a little worried it was never properly adjusted and added wear to the bearing.
Yeah...Ya know...I'm not too sure. My knowledge in this area is pretty limited unfortunately. If I get the parts and am willing to drive down....would you care to help me out?
Where would you buy the throwout bearing that you recommend?
I'm not useless with a wrench & sockets or anything but...I just don't know as much as you do when it come to this sort of thing. I'm eager to learn though. Maybe we could do a write up on the job and post pictures etc...
Yeah, I can help you out. My schedule in the next couple months is a nightmare, so lets try to schedule this soon if you want to get it done right away.
Hey, if it squeeks/makes a nasty grinding sound when I press in the clutch pedal, should I buy any other parts just in case? I'm not made out of money, by any means, but...I'd like to get it right this time.
I saw a "mod" a few year back where they ditched the clutch return spring, and installed a brake lever return spring instead. Supposed to work good, but I never tried it. Even if you replace that little "U" bushing, it wears out in a few weeks and goes right back to squeeking.
FYI Some times the chirp comes from the contact between the hydraulic cylinder and the clutch fork. Iv have tried to get some rubber or something in there to alleviate the aberrations but its pretty tight with the pressure. lithium grease fixes this for awhile.
