Really? Did you take a little off the top of the jack?

'95-'04 Tacoma bed width between rails: 57.9 in
'05 Tacoma bed width between rails: 58.6 in

Pretty damn close... :dunno:

I need to figure out a better mount for my 60-in as opposed to the Loc-Rack on the inside of my bed rail.

The rails are that width, but under them there is more room.

Nothing wrong with using your skills to help someone out like that!

Oh no offense at all Bear, I just didnt want anyone to think I was a pro photochopper by accident. Im actually a MS Paint Amatuer as you can pretty much tell by the chop :D :xbeer3:

Pretty damn hard using just fiberglass. You would have to use flat stock on the under side to keep things supported.

I have the top loop rotated 90* but it fits the other direction too but it just sticks past the edge of the bed rail. I did not like how a branch sliding down the bed could catch it.

So I am sorry for posting a stupid question and I am not berating anyone who wants to shorten their bed but what is the point? Is it just to improve departure angle?

You got it. Its not a "just" though, its a huge improvement when the trails get serious.

i was thinking about how to bob the cap for my extra cab. i can rebuild pretty much any part of a surfboard with fiberglass, how hard could it be to to patch a top back together with some cloth and resin. seems like the hardest part would be working around the window though, you would probally have to take a little bit off both ends, however i don't know if that would leave enough support for the cap, the whole thing would pretty much be a window.

Just bob it, so it measures the same as a d-cab bed, and then buy a canopy for a d-cab and put it on your truck. :D

when the trails get serious you need a flat/tubed bed :D with zero sheet metal , but bobbed beds do look slick though.

Never said it would stay pretty :D I like the look of a real bed and would keep it as long as it would last, then resort to a flat bed. :D

Not a double cab, hell-not even a Taco but it may give you another idea of what a difference bobbing the bed will make. I took 14-1/2" out of my bed and I no longer drag ass on everything on the trail ;) .
