From what I have heard, a night and day differance. I haven't had any nice expensensive coilovers, but I have had cheap spacers. They limit any travel you get in the front end even more so, and stiffen up the ride. On the other hand, you don't get a ton of travel in the front to begin with and I could deal with the stiffer ride for the inexpensive cost of a spacer. Coilovers will give you a nice ride in the front, but will only provide more travel if you go with a longer uniball style upper a-arm. About $500 for the a-arms, give or take. From there, it just kinda depends what route you want to go. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks, that is were I got my information on the fabtech lift over the trail master. Although, they lacked the information about how much you can extend the lift with a spacer.

ok you can actually get some good bit of travel out of your IFS. you need to get quick disconnects or just take off the sway bar like i and several others have done and invest in some quality coilovers. you'll be surprised by the suspension travel. but make sure you get the Diff drop if you want your CV joints to last longer. But it you plan to do a SAS just go ahead and get spacers, its not worth it to invest into expensive stuff.

Also kinda late but I used to have Cornfed 1.5 top spacers on my truck which didn't make the ride any stiffer because they sat on top of the strut. I just recently upgraded to All Pro/Bilstein coilovers with upper a arms which are a bit stiffer but in my opinion ride much better. I found a good comparison of most of the coilover kits available at:

Hope that helps.

Yeah, man! It probably was me. I have been dating a girl that lives in Cartersville, so I make that hike from Duluth up there about once a week or so.
