I am just finishing up my 4x4 conversion and got the tranny and case in but the new 4wd driveshaft is too long!?!? It's going on a 02 dbl cab...are there different lengths like should I try to find a regular cab front section of the rear portion...I am literally flabbergasted (big word) why it won't fit. Does anyone know the length of a 4wd dbl cab 01 04 front portion of the rear driveshaft
That's what I thought....I have got no clue all I know is it ain't right lol... It's shorter than a per runner and longer than a 4wd
Whatever just rock the front driveshaft and no rear till I get the right one I guess
only the front portion of a 2-pc should be different between the AT and 5sp.
prerunner shafts...the rear section...on excab and Dcabs should also be the same size. However, the bolt pattern on Pres seem to be different or the same as earlier trucks, ie, pre- '95.5.
Ok so trying to seperate the two driveshafts to put my new one on...Do i need to separate the double cardan thingy to get to that nut to be able to pull them apart??
here is a pic of the nut i am talking about..
Also I have been driving it in 4Hi(no rear d shaft) and my check engine light came on saying the temperature sensor says fluid is running hot??? everything appears fine though it came on while doing like fourty on my maiden voyage
that part should just come apart, I believe the nut you are talking about holds the flange on the front section of the DS along with the support bearing. You may have to tap on it with a hammer to get them to separate. DO NOT mess with the double cardan joint or you will open a huge can o worms. What fluid is running hot the trans?
Transmission is what it said....really confused as to why...and i have pounded on that dang thing and it still wont separate??? thats why i thought there must be more to it, well i am going to go pound on it some more and see. I like how getting these two shafts to come apart is the hardest thing on the whole conversion haha
Ok I beat the driveline lol.....took an air hammer but I got it! Only thing I am thinking with the tranny is the fluid may not of fully circulated when I went from turning it on to driving fourty mph immediately? Sound plausible?
UPDATE...removed the code drove it for another seven miles threw the transmission sensor fluid overheating code again....ahhhh. Checked fluids both levels look fine and smell fine
Well I attached some photos of the lines running from my radiator
this is the farthest one back and it feels a lot cooler than the first one... could this be the return and there is a clog somewhere????
this is both lines the one fitting you see is the hottest of the two and the other line is cool
Another UPDATE....throwing a p0710 code now which is Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit Malfunction, going to replace the sensor with the one on my old tranny and see what happens.
