2003 Tacoma x-cab TRD
5vzfe, 5 speed manual
4.88s locked f+R, 32x11.50x15
101,000 miles
Last inspection, I was too busy with work to take care of the truck work myself, so I had the shop that inspected my truck troubleshoot and fix the CEL issue it had.
The guy calls me and says its code 0136 (bank 1, sensor 2). So I pay $350 dollars or so for him to replace the rear o2 sensor, drive for a few days, take it back, and the guy checks it and says it's going to pass.
He puts stickers on it (all I cared about at the time). Two days later the light comes back on kicking the same code.
Not having time to care (got my stickers), and not wanting to pay triple for any more repairs, I drive the truck with the light on for another two years and 12000 miles.
Last week, wanting another inspection now, I pull the code (good old 136), and under advice from a friend who works mostly on imports, buy a DENSO brand replacement for that sensor, and install it (again).
A couple trips later (today), I'm getting the same friggin code again (P0136).
Ive read quite a few threads similar to mine and either nobody posted their fix, or they gave up and bought an 02 eliminator.
I want to fix this right. Any idea what to look at next? Replacing the sensor didn't work twice now, so where do I go from here? Anybody else have a P0136? How did you get rid of it?
Thanks in advance guys. Every mod on my truck came from this forum. Up until now, the search feature has given me all the info I need.
