Wierd my posts are disappearing. I posted this 2 hrs ago, but its not here anymore so Ill post again.
Ive been told to get a 4wd steering box (86-95) yet I cant see any difference from the outside between the 4wd and 2wd. Can you tell the difference? Which is which? Ill post the answers in a day or so. Just wanted to see if anyone else could tell.

Seeing as I have one and I just pulled another at Pull-A-Part today I can tell ya there is no diffrence in the pics you have except the way the lines are routed.

Also, pullapart down in Conley has a waggy and both 44's are still there. No rust whatsoever.

Dacula. Mainly IFS 86-95 but theyre at a slavage yard that strips'em as best they can its not like theyre all in one piece. Usually the rear axle, and complete drivetrain is stripped and tossed in a pile. Make it a PITA to figure out what axles came out of what. But its worth checkin out I guess I enjoy going but the guy is out of my price range. He wanted $675 for 2 D44's and 1 steering box. I offered him $500 and he wouldnt budge. Theres a couple of T-100 rears up there too. Call me if you want directions. 4045029742

I agree but believe it or not 2 of the above boxes are on 2wd's (its the last 2 runners). Thats why I dont see why they wouldnt work. They all look the same and have the 3 bolts going parallel to the ground. I know the bolts are different on some 2wd's trucks Ive seen as the 3rd bolt goes down perpendicular to the ground. But the 2wd runners seem to have the same box as the 4wd trks and rnrs. Same casting numbers too 60020 on the box and 35080 where the shaft enters. Im confused, cant get an aswer on Pirate either. Spent an hour searching but no mention of the difference.

Oh and all of these are wrecked in one way or another. They were bought to part out after being wrecked, unlike Pull a Part where it seems all the cars were sold in decent condition to be parted out.

The shafts are different size and steering lines are mounted different than the 4wd boxes.

Which shaft? Input or output is different?
EDIT: And the lines are run the same (from what I can see) in all 3 of the 4runner pics that show the top of the box.

Thats an understatement :D I got a few G's to pay off the VISA. Im just researching hardcore. It will be at least '08 if not longer. Once I get into this stuff (researching), I cant stop. Shucks.
I really like my truck the way it is and hope to always DD my Taco whether its like it is now or SAS'd. So basically I was just reasearching a SAS for my truck and got to thinking why not DD it till its unbearable then SAS it. Its getting 21 mpg which made me sway towards that thought.
I dont want to go all hardcore crazy yet.
Something I could still DD. Even if the mpg's drop :D Trade-offs...
But in conclusion my main idea here is to get an axle I can be building or uhh rebuilding to take up the time till I have money for the rest, wheels, tires, hydro assist, springs, shackles, hanger, crawler, ok ETC. no need to list it all.
Gives me something to do besides play video games. Lame.
Peace.
