I am now completely finished with my bumper and the relocation of the plate. Once I drilled the first hole in the tailgate I was alright, but that first hole was tough to start. Hard to drill a perfectly good tailgate. I am very happy with the finished product and thanks to everyone here for the advice along the way.

Looks good, and I must say better than mine. I almost used the stock licence plate lights, but I did not think it shed enough light to read the plate at night unless I put one on each side, and I thought that would look weird. I did not want to give the law any reason to give me a ticket. I instead used license plate bolts with lights in them from James Duff, and they work great and give a clean look. I just need to weld on my shakles and it will be done.

Both setups look good guys :D
Can I offer an idea though?Don't know if anybody here has tried this before,so I'm just throwing it out there,FWIW.
As anybody with a pickup knows, sooner or later one of your buddies is going to ask you to help them move a couch or something big that requires the tailgate to be down. And your plates won't be visible mounted the way they are.I have a way to solve this.
I used to own a 69 Bronco, and most 66-77 Broncos had tailgate mounted license plates. The Bronco license plate holders are hinged, and spring loaded,so you can flip the license plate down to be visible with the tailgate down.Kind of a cool little setup. You can get the license plate brackets at any of the early Bronco parts dealers.
Just tossing out an idea for a cheap trick, maybe keep somebody from getting a ticket.

In the stock location, with the tailgate down, you cant see your liscense that good. I dont think you would have to worry about a cop pulling you over for that. Just my $.02

How is the illumination on the license plate? My brother is having issues with his stock lights illuminating the license plate on his Bent Up bumper.

I ran the wiring through an existing hole in the tailgate. If you look at the picture closely you can see the wire. I may have to rethink that issue; sort of sloppy.

The lighting is pretty bad, but I think it will be enough to stay within the law. Two lights would be better, but as stated earlier, would look pretty lame.
