I got tired of this winch setup sticking out, looking dorky and tripping over it in the garage, not to mention carying and mounting, wireing it every time I wanted to go out. It was a simple install, no welding. Four 7/16 bolts attach it to the reciever. I did manage to screw up the bumper a little as I cut the opeiing a little to big. I;ll probably make some kind of hinged liscense plate to cover it up.

That is a stronger set up than it was originally by mounting it directly on the cross member for the reciever hitch. You killed several birds with that one modification

Nice job, thinking about it a bit, for the time and money involved that is probably the best way to go for mounting a winch behind the bumper.

LOL now if I could just figure out how to get my old Belleview 6000 behind the bumper like that.

Nice job! Very clean install. Toyota could have made some money for themselves offering an option like that.

Install was really easy. The hardest part was cutting out the hole in the bumper. The funest part was not being able to completly grind the reciever bar off the mounting plate and haveing to wack it with a 10 lb sledge. This setup also lets me use the front reciever for a shackle point.

Nice job. How does the hitch mount to the front of the tacoma does it use the 2 holes where the tow points are at, or did you dril new holes to mount it?

That is awesome!!!
I was thinking about something like that for my truck a while back, but I hadn't got that far into the design.

You should do a full on write up on that. I bet a lot of people would be interested in duplicating that. That is really sweet, dude. Looks clean as hell.

GREAT JOB! ! !

Yep, the reciever bolts up to the two tow hook bolts, and also to the side of the frame which needs to be drilled larger. Its a pretty simple install, nothing fancy. The reciever is suppose to be rated at 9500 lbs.

If you do a writeup, I can host it for you. send it to musicfreak_84@hotmail.com

Nice & clean looking. Also much stronger. I would like to do the same thing. More pics and a write-up would be helpful.

Great job you did there! Quick question, what is your approach angle now? Did it stay the same as stock?

I didn't notice any real change in the approach angle from stock. The reciever bar also provides great protection of the radiator.

Does anyone know if this will work on a 97 taco? Warn makes a front reciever hitch for the 97, Reese does not. I really don't desire the reciever, I am just looking for a clean way to mount a winch with the stock bumper.

Looks nice.

The ‘done’ pictures looks 1000% better than the ‘before’ picture.

You made some good head-way in the RIGHT direction. ;)

I agree you should do a write-up. :)

The after looks 5,000 times better than the before. Good work but I am not a big fan of it being that low, seems like the approach would be whacking that a lot.
