Old Stage Road and Eagle Rock Sunday

Hey, it's been too long since I've been in the front range mountains. A few of us are going up Old Stage Road and maybe do Eagle Rock on Sunday.

We're meeting at the Starbucks off hwy 115 at 0945 MST. Let me know if you're joining us. Nothing extreme, just a fun Sunday trail run.

Sunday was a great time with Jason, Josh, Ben and Chris. Jason has a jeep he's been modifying and was itching to get it on a trail. Josh and Ben have a sick skeleton buggy rig made with an old toyota truck frame. Chris just finished replacing some seals in LilRed and was ready to check out his work. Me? I haven't been on a trail for so long I had cobwebs where there shouldn't be cobwebs!

We headed up Old Stage to Eagle Rock. Eagle Rock is rated a 7 and used to be because it had one tough section. Not any longer. That section extends further up the trail and includes several tough and tight spots. I first did this trail when Chester was stock. Sunday it required more clearance (we had to stack rocks in one place for me since I had the lowest vehicle) and sliders (which I definitely used several times and not on purpose either).

Oh and did I mention I almost hit several trees? JAson got his rig up into a two wheel side stand coming off the backend of FR379. Chris got all tippy several times too.

We parted at the end of the trail so Jason and Josh could go do some more extreme sections. Chris and I came back down and ended up helping a couple of guys with their old style Land Cruiser. The steering tie rod ball and pivot had separated and they couldn't steer. After Chris pulled their truck out of the main road on Old Stage, we got to work. Using a hydraulic jack, hammer and zip ties, Chris and Jeremy wrestled the two parts together and put 8 zip ties around the joint. With Chris and I as escorts, Jeremy carefully drove his LC back down the mountain and to his house.

That's where we found a whole driveway full of Toyotas! Weeeeeee!!! Chris was ready with a flyer (yeah, I was out) and we talked a bit before heading on home ourselves.

Oh did I mention Chris's wife rode with me most of the day? heh heh heh...that's another thread of stories...

It was a great Sunday...and just what I needed.

i hate looking thru a million different websites to look at peoples pics...... it would be easier to just have them in one community place for wheeling pics!

ok, gotcha. There was once a time that he was on here almost every day. Maybe we should start a M&G at his house and just don't tell him till he has a bunch of trucks pull into his driveway. That'll fix him!
