What are the specs on the T100 rear axle? How is it different from the taco axle? Same specs, same diff, gears etc. But it is 66" wide compared to the Taco's 60".

wider than a taco to match up rear track width with front track width
Except that the ESB kit is 5.5" over per side, so the front will be about 4" wider than the rear. The Tundra and T100 axles match track width with the Total Chaos and Camburg kits which are 3.5" over.

You say you're linking the rear? Are the rear shocks gonna be inside the cab since it's a DC? Bypass and coilover or just coilover? King, Fox, or SAW?

yeah i'm curious to see how your setting up the coilovers and shocks, they going into the cab?

the shocks will either be put on the axle or on the lower link once we get the bed off and see how much room we have back there then we will know for sure there might be enough room to put them right at the end of the lower link i am shooting for about 23" of travel out of the rear that is about the most you can get without doing drive shaft mods i will be running kings and yes a bypass shock the rear will be tough it is not like you see a lot of linked double cabs running around so this is all pretty new so there is a lot of trial and error..what are you saying tweeter or are you just running you mouth

PrerunnerGuy-
He's talking about this cluster-fuck of a thread (http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10546), basically saying that he'll believe it when he sees it.
Oh, and speaking of titanium lug nuts (since 12tweeter12 brought it up) Paul Scott actually stopped by my house last weekend because he was in the area, buying a new Tacoma (because he wrecked his old one driving 140mph off-road...). I'd sent him a PM to ask about his quick-disconnect steering wheel extension and he brought the parts over to show me how he made them. He even gave me a copy of his blueprints so that I could make one for myself. Just thought you guys might like to know that he was actually for real. I know, it kinda surprised me too.
Back on-topic: I'm glad to see that you picked up another Tacoma. It was a shame what Desert Strike did to your last truck. Who is doing the work this time around? I'm interested to see how the rollcage and rear suspension come together. You know, any of the shock mfg's would build you a set of shocks in whatever length you want, so you could mount them 1:1 and still get 20-22" of travel without mounting them inside the cab. That's a pretty damn-long shock though. What about building some type of mezzanine arm or cantilever setup and mounting the shocks behind the axle?

No, he had ANOTHER truck that Desert Strike butchered. The guy basically ruined a perfectly good Tacoma, but PrerunnerGuy can tell you more about that.

wrecked your truck eh PW?
Yeah, luckily my GF and I didn't get hurt though... It happend off-road near Wrights Lake Road (near Tahoe). Anyway, I wasn't very happy with the TRD Supercharger anyway, so I'm selling it and I bought a Twin-Screw Lysholm type supercharger. They're much more efficient, they'll handle much more boost, and I'll be able to run a front mount intercooler. I retained salvage on my truck and I'm going to sell most of the parts except for the engine and possibly the rest of the drive train to keep for back-up parts. The engine I'm going to rebuild with forged pistons, con rods, head porting, and other stuff. I'm going to switch over to a wet nitrous kit (probably use a 50-shot) that I just bought and I'm just going to run tolulol/water with the water injection system. I'm also making a new intake manifold with a staged secondary injector on each intake runner. It should, if everything works like I'd hope, put down around 400HP at the wheels.

Nate, I was wondering if you were going to run any outward angle on your rear stup, or mount your rear coilovers outboard of the frame to deal with the width of the axle vs. the stock/ semi stock location of inboard shocks.
I like the idea of using long shocks near vertical in the rear; it gives the damping a lot of room to work with.
It seems to me if the shocks were outboard as far as possible, the body roll would be lessened considerably without massive damping. I like the idea of a DC, it is really good to see so much different thinking!! Good luck. Paul.

yes if we don't mount the shocks on the trailing arm we will mount them outside the frame on the axle..but i think that we might will have room to mount the shocks on the trailing if we mount the heim towards the bottom of the axle and run a 48" lower trailing arm we can mount the shock about 16-17" up on the lower arm that will put the top of the shock right up by the back of the cab and still keep some lean on the shock but there will be alot of stuff mounting right in that area because some where in that area also we have to tie the cab cage into the bed cage in another place i will post pics as we go the cage is moving slow right now because i am waiting on the solid mounts for the cab we have the rear hoop bent and are working on the dash bars also..
thanks for the tip mike done

Are you solid-mounting the cab using the stock body mounts? Why not just cut them off and weld the rollcage right to the frame?

Running tubes behind the dash was a little tricky. This is what I came up with. The stock dash still fits back into place, but I lost the two outside heater/AC vents. Make sure to post up some pictures of your progress.

yes on the drivers side the big plastic piece that covered the wire harness was removed and then we rewraped the wires and just pushed the wires down there is plenty of room back there to run a dash bar :D we will have to do some mods to the bar that runs behind the dash that toyota puts back there the it will bolt to the drivers side but it will be welded to the cage on the other side if that makes since i will post pics when take more you can keeps the wipers if you come through the firewall on the far out side like we did and there is no clearence issues the only problem is the window bars the one on the drivers side will clear but the passenger side i think we will have to cut the wiper rod and weld a peice right underneath i will also post pic of that i will try to take more pics this week

actually i already have a dash bar and everything tied in, did the same thing bascially notched the stock tube welded it to the cage and plated it up, its not used for support on the cage but its supporting the steering wheel still.... then behind that is my dash bar... my biggest worry is the wiring looms, and windshield wipers... i know what you did now with the looms hopefully i still can, but the wipers are a big concern... i would like to have atleast 4 bars through the cab into the engine cage, for ridgity... so i have a feeling im going to have to loose my wipers... (sucks)

We pierced through the firewall in four places and will retain the windshield wipers (without any modifications). I'll be putting the windshield back in after I finish plating/gussetting the A-pillars later this week.

I went under the linkage with the two tubes that tie into the windshield V-bars. If you take off those plastic grill covers and measure it, you'll see that there's just barely enough room to slide a 1.5" tube through there.

Hey Jesse,
what are you gonna do if you blow a head gasket?
I'm planning to cut that tube running across the engine compartment on each side and reinstall it with flanges. It was just easier to make as one piece. Nothing else is in the way of working on or removing the engine, although I know it looks kind of tight in there.

I don't want to derail Prerunnerguy Nate's thread, but working on anything in the engine compartment got a whole lot easier after we removed the inner fenders. I'll probably re-skin the tubes with aluminum panels on Dzus fasteners.

That's funny. I just talked to Jerry about those tubing clamps yesterday when I ordered a set of Sparco seats from Camburg. Went with the Evos because I couldn't tell the difference between them and the Pro 2000 except for the squared headrest.

It should, if everything works like I'd hope, put down around 400HP at the wheels.

i was planning on cutting out the inner fenders but it just ended up that i didn't need to cut out that much of them to get everything mounted.i wasn't that hard to work around them, i think it was easier to make them work in place than it would have been to remount all of the stuff that is bolted to them.one less thing to fab up also...

the tires are 35x12.50x16,the front end was made by ESB Fab http://www.esbfabrications.com/tacokit.htm there is 16ft of 1 3/4 and when it is all done bumper to bumper about 200ft of 1 1/2 so yes i would say there is alot of tubing bring on the s/c
BajaRnr12 for the rear seat i am going to put the stock seat in for now but i plan on putting in 2 buckets, money is getting a little tight,it is pretty cool the stock rear seat goes right in place and folds back and locks in, it just will be a little tuff to get in the back seat with the cage work, but hey i won't be climbing back there :D bring on the chick with skirts :D :D

It's being worked on, on and off for a couple months, bit by bit. Since I sell crack and not heroin I have to do it in stages ;) Some specs when I'm done if anyone is curiuos:
-TC front end
-King c/o's/bypasses
-Custom Cantilever rear
-King bypasses/King bumps out back
-Boxed/gussetted frame
-Custom front & rear bumpers
-Rear holds 2 spares + gas
-PRP seats/Crow harnesses
-Cage
you get the idea. :D So I'm confused are you leaving the stock seat how it is or adding a third bucket in the middle?

not trying to be a dick but a friend of mine's dad owns the shop and we worked out a hell of a deal on it and i don't want to say sorry.you got all the seat time you want if you help scotch bright it :) my kings are just there 10" c/o dual rate i think they are 250 over 350 but i will check and make sure watch RDC and dezert rangers for the kings there seems to be alot of guys selling them,i got mine off of DR and paid $750 for them and they were brand new from a guy who just decided he wasn't going to build his truck anymore.you can also run 12" shocks with the ESB kit, the 10's are nice because then you don't have to cut out so much of you inner fender if you don't want to an dyou don't really need the extra 2" i am using every bit of the 10's and getting all of the travel that the ESB kit can give

it's alive!! finally i got it started today it took a while to do the mods to the fuel cell to make it smog legal, but i got it running today and it ran for about 10 mins and no check engine lights came on so i hope that i am finished with the fuel system.the only things i have left are bleed the brakes, add fluids to the rearend, and weld in 2 bars in the engine cage, skid plates and small things like that but i hope to be driving it home this week.

i am running the biggest flare i could find front and rear the front is glassworks 6.5" flare and the rear is where the problems are they only make a 4"flare so i am getting some mods done to them so they will cover.
yes the ride hight is a little high but that is how esb made the kit to run 4-5" of lift over stock i am going to shorten the front bumps so i can bring it down a little.you wouldn't belive how planted the truck feels when you are driving it,it helped alot putting the shocks so far back on the lower arms.

I'd like to get some feedback from you on the cage going into the body like that, like after a few runs can you report if the body shifts on it and elongates the holes, makes noise, is or is not air/water tight, noisy from wind etc etc, cuz I have been toying with an inner/exo combo for my D-cab, so please give as much info as you can. Thanks.

the body dosen't move at all it is solid ,mounted with alum. body mounts, the noise does carry through the cage work, but this weekend i put in some dynamat to help with that.the body is also welded to the cage work in all the spots where it comes through the cab to help keep it air tight i also but some RTV around the holes to make sure they were sealed.I see you are in phx.az if you ever want to check it out let me know.

ESB (http://www.esbfabrications.com) for the front suspension
Nate,
are you going to make a plug for the rears or who is going to do the glass work?
I know for a few bucks 1K I think most glass companies will make a plug and fenders to your specs, then when someone buys a fender you get a royalty.

I tried to get the glass companies to do something but most of them didn't want to because there isn't much demand for 6" dcab bedsides,so a fellow member on DR gave me a guys number who did the work, then i dropped the fenders off at Earls Glass in Phoenix and they are going to do the fill work.
Clark0098, I have put about 150 miles on the truck and it handles great on the street, the steering is a little heavey from the big uniballs but is tracks down the road perfect.I was worried about the same thing taking a new truck and making it handle like shit but that didn't happen, hell it drives to good on the street i let my wife drive it the other day

WOW! looking awesome man, thanks for sending me to this forum (this is ESB Mike posting by the way). its really cool to see one of the three tacoma race kits that we sold on a vehicle and getting ready to romp! even though i dont own my shop anymore, id really like to see how this thing does, and if you have any issues with it you can always message me with questions and ill do what i can (although i cant really fabricate much anymore, im still good for advice!) hope everything works out good for you man, we tested the hell out of this kit and so far we've never had a SINGLE problem with it other than the heavy steering issue (which is a common problem on mini trucks with the 1.5" uniballs, but when offroad its extremely lessend). again, hope this project works out well for you and that it lives up to your expectations. dont crash it! lol
