Should be getting my truck back on Friday. I'm going easy this weekend to re-build confidence and avoid any other stupid mistakes ...
So I'll be looking for an all day, stock truck type, scenic and easy drive...
I might just stay on pavement and go somewhere to " Get away " for the day...
I could use one of those long day drives eating a subway sub on my lap and drinking a coke.
This run will be alcohol free and it won't be a "wheel for an hour ...M&G for five hours " type day.
I need to get out, clear my head and breathe some cold clean mountain air.
Let me know if you're interested in joining me....or if you can suggest a trip that might work out.

Hmmm - I still want to do something in fort collins. I will have my truck back. Depending on snow Moddy hill might be perfect.

I posted a run that should be perfect for you. Come down and join us on a snow run across Mt Herman/RRR. It's a quiet ride with a couple parts to make things interesting. There should be no worries of carnage and I'm not big on stopping every 1/4 mile. Something to consider since it's not too far away from you.

You mentioned snowchains?
I know RRR ...i'd be comfortable on that .....it's Mount Herman I'm not familiar with.

there's not much difference between RRR and Mt Herman other than the latter having more twists and turns. Very simple. I don't have chains and I plan to run it even if it's with just my family. I think my wife is planning to join us this time for a change of pace. I only mentioned to bring chains if you have them so we have at least one person out there with them,,, just in case.

I thought you were getting divorced or something? Things going better? without getting too offtopic...
Oh and how much are chains for 33x12.50x15's?

You can get chans for 33's at walmart for like 80$. I also have 2 pair chaines for 35's but with serious adjuster straps so I think they could fit 33's too so you could use one of my pairs...

Things are wonderful with my wife and there has never been talk about divorce.
As Molly said, you can pick up chains for up to a 33" tire for about $80 at WalMart. They're not the best but will get the job done. Now if I could only get them to stock chains for a 35,,,

The Tire source in Boulder. I have 2 sets so I can share with you Tat or Chris....
I pick up my runner today. Got the steering fixed but the winch is out for repair, so no one get really stuck ok? (Though my tow strap is killer). Now The Beemer has to go in. Wonder how long that one is gonna take...

Your tow strap is an ARB right? It's sweet:kewl:

Yeah it's an ARB. 75 foot. Cost about $100 tho. But well worth it.

There is hardly any snow on moody/crystal. I was up there last weekend the 11th. I was hoping for lots of snow in the rock quarry but there wasn't so it kinda sucked. Hopefully they will keep it open for awhile because I want to do the trail with some good snow. I think it would be pretty hard gettin to the top of crystal with alot of snow.

I'm definitely joining Chris in the springs for the RRR/Mt Herman run.
***edit***
I just read the trail description for Moody Hill and it seems I will pass on that on Sunday.
This is the description from the guide book. Please read my first post after reading this to see if they match.
Difficulty:Moderate. One of the more challenging moderate trails. The first part of the trail is steep with some fairly large moguls. If you're not sure of your driving skills, you may want to inspect the first part of the trail on foot. High ground clearance and good articulation are recommended.
On the other hand here's the description for the MT. Herman/RRR run.
Keep in mind my original post.
Difficulty: Easy. Maintained gravel road with occasional rocky spots and small washouts. Rampart Range Road, in the area around Rampart Reservoir, is suitable for 2WD cars, but as you descend towards Colorado Springs, the road gets very rough. Mt.Herman Road is rocky, steep and narrow in a few places but suitable for stock 4x4 SUV's in good weather.
