Today was one of the better days I've had at work. Today was my first time in the 7 plus years I've been in the Marines to drive a Hummer. I was delivering toy for the Toys for Tots program to to the local lower class schools. If getting to drive the Hummer wasn't fun enough, seeing these kids faces when four Hummers pulled up at thier school was the best part. If any of you see that Toy for Tots box at the Mall, Wal Mart, or where ever please drop off a toy in there. I'm sure you think/thought what I use too, that the toys never go to local kids well I can tell you that they do. We started this morning around 0900 loading toys up from the Toys for Tots warehouse (which was packed with toys wall to wall) here in Jax and headed out like Mr. C.
I drove two of the four Hummers there and for teh last school we had to get on I95 and they go alot faster then I thought, speed-O only goes to 60 and I had in the 6 O-Clock position and we were keeping up with all the other cars. Handling is really good, had to make a quick turn onto the off ramp at about 60 and the 37" Goodyears let out a light bark and gripped the road. I couldn't help but to try the little shift labled "HL-H-N-L" I only put it in L-LOW when turning into on of the schools and the 37" tires started barking (I'm guessing this locked front/rear diffs) all the kids really like that too (I did too but I wish I could take the Hummers OFFROAD). The only thing I didn't like about them were the damn seats suck and there isn't a radio. I really had a good time and I'm going to be doing the same thing again tomorrow and maybe the rest of the week if I can.
