My wife will keep/eat left overs that have been in the fridge 5-8+ days sometimes.... And today her sister told me thanks for the great chili that I gave her parents... that they ate TODAY... that I made the sunday following THANKSGIVING!!! 18 days old!!! Suprisingly they haven't died yet either...
What's the max you guys/gals let stuff go?

Shannon must have an iron stomach!
Depends on what it is, but I don't like to eat anything older than 3 days....unless there's nothing else in the fridge

cut off all your fingers, you wont be stronger. lol
and the food thing, it really depends if its in a container that is airtight or just wrapped in aluminum foil. and what it is.
were you talking about abotu anything in particular other than the chili? that would help with a yes or no.
and thats a big NO on eating the chili

Man it's everything from left over cracker barrel breakfasts and olive garden dinners in the foam to go containers that are well over 3-4 days old... To tupperwares of soup, veggies, and mystery stuff for weeks. Every time we house sit for them I clean out the fridge! But before they leave town her mom always says... "there are plenty of leftovers in the fridge that we just got", forgeting that I ate dinner with them 2 weeks prior when they got that stuff!!!

AS long as you nuke the crap out of it it's usually all good ;)

If its frozen then its usually good. Stuff from restaurants I only keep for a day or two. Lesley makes chilli and soup and what not that can be saved FROZEN for months! Like Ryan said, if you can nuke it to heck then you have probably killed all the harmful stuff. Just cant say it will still taste that good.
BTW...Mike...I am in CA now and I am heading to the beach today...surf is 18+ feet!!! Its pretty stormy so I probably wont be paddling out unless their is a clean inside set but all this week its supposed to clean up and stay at least overhead!!! Arent you jealous! I will be sure to get lots of pics! Later.

I work with a guy that likes to eat old food. Today he ate a piece of pizza that had been sitting in the box on a shelf since like Thursday, and no he didn't heat it up at all. The other day he ate part of a burrito that was from the day before and had just been sitting out. :xbarf:

Ok I have a food handlers lience because im manager of a resturant and have perty much worked in them as my jobs..love to cook...First there are MANY bugs in food that can not be killed no mater how much you nuke them and there are bugs that will still grow in cold temps...they are in everything you eat or drink...It's the amount of them that make you sick and what it is..I dont want to go in to detail but there r some bugs that damn right will kill..
Ok now for time left to eat...Fast food/take out(left over) no longer than 4-5 days if put in air tight contaner 2-3 most if left in foam contianer this is because the food is out of safe temp in trans to your home...Home made depends on what it is and how long it was out after cookin to cool??..If put away after cooling down most is good for about 5 days because of the time it set out coolin slow alows bactiera to grow faster than if was put away warm..If put away warm 7-10 days on most things...Chilli should be put away right after eating what you had...Tomotoa sauses should have a 20-30 min cool then be put away..if put away they will spoil faster...18 days later you should not be eating anything even if it was in air tight container(unless frozen) because nothing is AIRTIGHT unless it's vacumed packed...Foods that are frozen are your best bet for lenght in time
Food that is not in temp holding range of 140-145 deg double there rate of groth per min and could be harmful with in a 1/2 hour depending on what bactiera it is...Food at room temp can grow bactiera at 3x to 6x per min
and like above not all can be killed with heat or cold
Next best thing is your nose..It will 99% of the time tell you what is good and what is not
Eat what you want just eat at your own risk :xbarf:

Yup..:D Went and checked it out on sunday. It was HUGE but VERY windy. Mostly offshore which gave it good shape but the wind was like 35+! I am heading out this morning. Supposed to be double overhead with light offshores!!!
