I would like your opinion on tires.
06' 4x4 standard cab SR5, I ordered Donahoe for the front (I'll twist them to 3" of lift) and Deaver for the rear. The rims are going to be Mojave/Teflon 16x8 w/4.50bs, tires 33x??x16. With your opinion, keep in mind that this is also a daily driver, however the steering wheel tends to pull real hard at the first sight of play time. We're talking mud, muddy trails, mud holes, it rains... it's play time.
I'm all set to mount Boggers... I'm just not sure if that would be the right decision. Wear? so be it... Noise? I don't care... Too aggressive, I'm concerned, do you feel that this tire is a bit much for the Tacoma?
I could go with the SSR 33x12.50x16, the lugs seem to be fairly close together, not sure how that would bite. Then there's the Nitto Mud Grappler, I did some searching on different forums and found nothing about how they perform.
GOT COPE?

If you dont care about noise and wear then you'll be fine with them an I think they'll look cool in a 33x10 or try a 34x9.50 TSL.

Just dont get a 33x15 bogger or whatever rediculous size they come in. I think it looks rediculous when your tires stick out 4 inches from the body.

Personally, I don't like the pizza cutter look but that's just my opinion. I'd try to find a 16x8 with more backspacing (4.00"-3.75") if your gonna run a 33x12.50. I think the SSR radial is a good choice if you like playing in the mud, go for it.

Tire wise if you want aggressive but better street manners, I have heard GREAT things about the IROKs. That is what I plan on getting next unless I win the lotto, then its on to the BFG Krawlers! And I agree with what Brian says about the rims but again just ones opinion.

Its your truck and your opinion about what "you don't care about" Ride quality and noise are two of the things that you sacrafice when going to an agressive tire, but what you also need to take into account for is the tire that your truck will be able to use effectivley. So, if you go and jump in the mud every time it rains, my ? is what kind of mud is it? Is it the black goo that is so deep that you are dragging you belly or is it a sloppy sand pit that has a deep water hole with hard bottom?
As for the boggers, they are designed for high wheel speeds like a paddle tire, to chew through and float on top of the mud and clear the tread with high wheel speed. I know that my 22R can't spin the tires fast enough to take advatage of the boggers tread pattern, but I am a rock guy, so I opt for the TSL SX. I am currently looking at the MT/R, IROK, and Creepy Crawlers for my next set of tires. I'll use the MT/R if I decide on using my truck as a DD/Weekend trail rig and the Irok/CC if it wiil be a weekend trail rig and not a DD.
It all comes down to building you truck to do what you want it to do. I will say that if you currently have street tires or AT's there are A LOT of tires between you and the boggers that will greatly improve the performance of your truck offroad without sacrificing ride or much noise.

Well there is no way I would run bogger on a daily driver. To rough and noisy IMO. If it is a daily why not a BFG mud or MTR. They have good maners on road and do well offroad. What kind of tire are you running now stock? If your running stock tires any Mud tir is going to be big improvement.
I would also be concerned about clearence in the wheel well on the 05. Better do some more research on firment in reguards to the '05 before you buy 33" tires. Also I think if memory is correct you don't want more then 4" back space on a wheel for the taco. Other wise you will rub the upper controll arm. I do not think that cranking up deavers to 3" is recommended either.
My :2cents: good luck

With your truck being a new taco, i assume it is your DD so i would go with a street friendly tire. i know that you say you don't care about noise and such but if you drive mainly on the street it'll get to you eventually. i recenty got a set of 35-12.5-15 goodyear MTRs and they are great. Less road noise than my 32" BFG MTs and better wet and dry traction. The only thing is that they are not the greatest tire for deep/thick mud, but as neil said I am also more of a rock guy than mud. But just my :2cents: .

if you put boggers on a daily driver you'll wish you didn't. Boggers have no place on daily driver rigs, not to mention "light weight" rigs. They wear very fast, and make tons of noise. For a DD you'll want a Radial. Better ride and wear. I'm gonna be getting a set of 37" TrXus MT radials soon. TSL radial or SSR is another good option. I vote HECK NO on Boggers for Daily drivers. my 2 cents.

You guys are outstanding, TTORA & Florida Chapter alway there to help out another member :) I've been lurking around for just over a year now, doing alot of reading and little posting.
I value all your opinions, sometimes I get thinking I want this, I need that. Then after I make the purchase... I'm like  what the hell did I just do :banghead:
GOT COPE, I apologize, I didn't intend for that to sound sarcastic, perhaps I should have phrased that in a better way. What I was thinking and typing were two different things (what, your not a mind reader ;) ). Neil nailed it by saying, "boggers, they are designed for high wheel speeds like a paddle tire, to chew through and float on top of the mud and clear the tread with high wheel speed. I know that my 22R can't spin the tires fast enough to take advatage of the boggers tread pattern"
91toyota4x4, 85sfarunner, bosco, Nullifier, Thanks for the heads up, I was under the impression that stock on the 05/06' was 5.00 back space. So, the lower the number the more the rim/tire would stick out from the fender. I had an 04' Pre-Runner with AR outlaw II's (offset was -19, back space was 3-3/4") with M/T Baja Radials mounted and the tire stuck out about 1". Now if I'm jackass backwards here, correct me if I'm wrong. I was going with the Mojave/Teflon because I saw pictures of the Camburg rig with them.
Nullifier, I think you meant Donahoe not Deavers. I talked to a Donahoe rep. and told him what my plans were, ARB winch bumper/Warn winch/ 33" tires, he said no problem...
Neil, drew95xcab, Thank You for taking the time to reply. Both of you are making me see reality, and I really appreciate that.
Now, let talk about those "Nitto Mud Grappler" :wink2:

Cool man! That is exactly what we are wanting this board to be. We are here to help each other and everyone else who comes along wanting to learn about their rig and the sport. We want everyone to feel welcome and not be afraid to ask anything.
Now about the Grapplers...I like em, dont know a whole lot about them except I think they wear fast on the pavement as well. On a DD you really are better off looking at a BFG M/T or MT/R. I would even suggest the pro-comp M/T. That is what I am running right now. Not my first choice but no complaints. Good luck!
