Since the board has been dead I figured I'd post up about some N. Ga wheeling I did yesterday. I hooked up with some of the guys from GATTORA and we headed up to Beasley Knob OHV Area in Blairsville, GA. It is a system of trails that climb pretty steeply up and around the mountains.

Here's a group shot

From left to right it's me, Colin, Christian, and Ed.

Here is the beginning headed up the trail we entered on.. pretty tame.

After heading up that last trail for a way it turned into this... really steep and really slick and really long hilclimbs

http://plaza.ufl.edu/ryanjohn/beasley/527820017HJXfNh_ph.jpg

Then I got stuck on this rock, more denied than stiuck though I guess. I could have gone around it but I noticed that a little too late. Once I lost my momentum I was gone and slid back down to a flatter part where I got stuck.

This is Ed trying to winch me off of the ledge I'm stuck on, it was so slippery and steep he was sliding down the trail.. before even hooking up to me so we strapped him to a tree.

During the recovery effort I knew something wasn't right. Can you figure out what's missing here?

http://plaza.ufl.edu/ryanjohn/beasley/527820299wMSuEX_ph.jpg

Yeah... Tie rod end snapped

http://plaza.ufl.edu/ryanjohn/beasley/527820864rnQWDK_ph.jpg

So we searched and searched and then 2 of us drove to Murphy, NC to get the parts. I love Advance Discount Auto :D At least the one in Murphy.

Once we got the parts the fix was cake. The views from the top of the mountain were spectacular.

The guys from the Georgia chapeter were really cool and I can't wait to wheel with them again. I told them we were gonna come up to Tellico so now no one can back out!!

So, what did you do on your vacation??

Looks like more fun than I have ever had wheeling. I need to get up that way in the near future.

It's like 6 hours from FL so it would be a long trip. It's like an hour or so from beasley to Tellico. I think it would be a nice place to stop on the way tp Tellico, I think there is a primitive camping area too.

I also forgot to mention that I was like a second away from rolling over trying to drive out of the spot where we fixed the truck  It was fun :)

I also just dicovered that I bent the outer TRE and my idler arm is destroyed! Woo hoo.

If I survive Tellico  , it might be worth taking a couple more days to get home ;) .

Yeah we can go to Beasley and then riverrock after that :lmao: I'd think I'd be a little "wheeled out" at that point.

Well Brian at least I know now why my right side front tires had all that wierd ass wear... idler arm :flamethro

from the looks of the pics, you got hung-up by that rock on the last bit of your frame. time for a bed/frame bob? :saw:

It's not the picture where my bumper is up on that ledge (my diff was up on it too) where I got stuck. The rock that I broke on is in the picture above that one, like 4 down from the top where the 4Runner is comming back down the trail, between me and him. I didn't know I was broke and tried to back down to the flat spot where my bumper is on the ledge. But since I could only steer one wheel I only made it half way to the flat spot and got stuck on that ledge. It's kind of hard to explain.

It's a really cool place. I'd be up for a weekend trip back up here before tellico in june. I think Beasley is closed for winter from Jan 1 - Mid March though.

I just use webshots for my pictures. But they don't allow linking so when I post pics on the forum I use my UF webspace to host them.

Hey Ryan that looks freakin AWSOME! Definately got to hit that up with everyone! Do you have any info on the bumper on that white taco? I really dig it and would love to see if I could get one on mine.

My vacation was great aside from the family drama...long story...I didnt get to wheel at all but I do have lots of pics of the surf and surfing! The waves have not been any smaller than double overhead since I got here! And they are supposed to get even bigger next week!!! I will get pics up when I get back home this weekend. Later.

Badlands offroad bumper

Beat me to it

But Bryan why put all that money into your Taco and not your 4Runner? It is a sweet bumper but for all that $$$ you could get some sweet 4Runner stuff.

Hey Colin where's the video of my breaking  heheheh

I know but the taco does need a bumper (the wife dented it back san diego) and I do plan on building it someday. Plus she is bugging me to pay a little attention to it. I had my heart set on an ARB bull bar ($$$ ) but if I can find something I like for a lot cheaper then I will go for it.

Ryan looks like you had a great trip. I rode the KTM enough to make want to keep it.
