i recieved my TRD hood decal form toyotapartsales and i was wondering if anyone has any tips on installation of it? i have done alot of stuff over the years, but i never messed with vinyl graphics or stickers. i was always against gay graphics, but for some reason i like the look of this sticker on the hoods!

get a spray bottle and put some soapy water into it. Spray it where the sticker is going to be. it will help you move it around. Let it dry thoroughly and then peel off the backing to the vinyl.

I just used my drivers liscense when the backing was still on. you could get a squeegee though.

Take a pencil and a tape measure and roughly decide (ok, not roughly) decide where you want it to go, make some pencil marks on the truck. Then as above, spray some soapy water on the hood. REmove the backing, put the sticker down in the water and you should be able to slide the sticker around in the soapy water until you get it properly located. Then use a credit card or something similar to work from the center out to work the soapy water and any air bubbles out from under the sticker. you do not need to drench it and be careful you don't tear it when it's wet.
Some people will also try using masking tape as a "hinge" and attach the tape the the truck and the other half to the decal splitting the tape lengthwise, but I never did like doing it that way.
Soapy water gives you the freedom to move it around some. There are some actual special sprays you can use instead of soapy water, but I don't know where you'd get it from.

Thanks for the replies! my only other question is; does the temperature make a difference as long as it not 30 degrees out?

You can go to www.decalworks.com. They specialize in decal kits. You can order a application kit from them. It contains a squeegee, and some lubricant.
I dirtbike, and when installing any decals, I just use windex. I also noticed heating up the decal, helps get it around curves much much easier. I tried a squeegee, but it didnt go a good job. I just use a card that I never use.
Soapy water works in a pinch. People also use rubbing alcohol and water. Just maje sure you squeegee from the inside of the decal out to get the water or whatever you using, out from under there.

You dont really need the soapy water, but it helps getting it into the location you want, the con to using soapy water is that you have to get every little bubble you couldnt squeegee out and pop them or else moisture will be trapped in there..you wont have that problem doing it dry.
Use a vinyl squeegee that is made for graphics if you can, its stiffer yet softer plastic than a credit card so you can really squeeze the bubbles out of the edge of the graphic without tearing the transfer tape. You want to squeeze the bubbles out from the middle of the graphic to the outer edges.Without soapy water, most vinyl graphics (if they are quality) can be pulled off and re-arranged accordingly as long as you are careful...and dont press down hard on them until you are ready to mount, use a pin prick to get the larger bubbles that you couldnt squeegee out, If you cant get all the bubbles dont worry they will dissappear in a short time

You partially missed your hood, but it's not too bad.

i'm not quite sure what you mean? i seen this on the two trucks in a post on this site and liked how they did it which is like mine. both were a little more on angles, but oh well.

either way. seriously though, how do the decals look. somehow i got two decals and screwed one up installing, so i covered a small ding with the letters on the tailgate from the screwed up one.

Looks like my comments are already too late but I have just recently put some decals on my truck bed. I went to wal-mart, but i think you can get this stuff at any auto store, and bought the tint on solution that mixes with water it was simply just called "tint on". In was in the section next to the do it yourself auto tints. I also picked up a rubber squeegee for applying tints as well, it was about a buck something and i figure i would use it again in the future. Then like some suggested earlier, I just sprayed it on the area, very lightly, don't need too much of this stuff for it to work, and apply the decal then squeegeed the air bubbles out and let it dry for a little bit before i removed the mask that held the vinyl.
