Invitation to Pre-Run for National Takeover

Texas TTORA is hosting the 2006 National Takeover in Arkansas.
A pre-run is planned for March. TX is looking for any TTORA member who would like to come down, run the trails in the park and then be trail leads for the National event in late July.

I put the dates on my calendar. Would like for a handful of CO members to make a weekend of it...

Hi guys,

I am the President of the TX Chapter. As you probably already know (if
you've read the National Board lately), our chapter is hosting our
National TO this year in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I am planning a pre-run
to the park in March (17th to the 19th) to check out the trails, local
accommodations, etc.

The reason for this note is to ask if either of you or any of your
members would be interested in attending the pre-run and or being a
trail guide during the main event in July. I realize that AR is not
exactly around the corner from CO, but I figured I'd ask anyway! If you
have someone that can make it please have them contact me so that I can
get all of their information. If nobody from your chapter can make it I
completely understand! Thanks.

Mapquest sets the drive time at 14h 38m and runs the trip through KS. I think it would be more direct to do south to Amarillo, TX then across on 40.

Mapquest has the route through KS then south to Tulsa, OK. Might consider going south first then across the TX panhandle...any thoughts?

Yes, both are the same weekend. Will is coordinating the trip to AZ. I'm coordinating the trip to AR.

I plan to leave Thursday and drive all day. That should put me in Hot Springs by late Thursday night. Sunday I plan to departe in the morning. The folks that go to this event are expected to be trail leaders during take over in July. There is room for more CO folks. For anyone who has not yet been to a national event, this is as close as it gets. We're on the fast track to host the national event in CO in 2007.

Most of us going to AR are planning on camping, but I have no idea what the weather is going to be like around that time. Chris Martinez, TX Pres., is going to talk to the park manager to get an idea of what it's like up there around that time of the year.

Is anyone else that is interested in being a trail leader during T/O?

We're up to 91 trucks and 173 people. Chris wants to make sure we have enough guides to split the groups up into manageable sizes. If needed there are some local guys that we can lean on for assistance. We want to make sure that everyone has a GREAT time in July.

I know this is a long drive but it's going to be worth it. I plan to camp. There will be camping fees and other payments that we'll have to pay the park.

March 17th will be here before we know it!!!

I'm leaving mid-morning on the 16th now. Son has to finish CSAP testing before we can leave. Anyone interested in going can meet at my place Thurs morning. Whether we drive the whole way or stop and finish Friday morning is still in the air. I'm looking into hotels, etc. along the way. Will probably throw in the camping gear.

I will probably drive about half way on thursday...working now on how to pop through altus, ok to see a good friend. Eric is riding with me, but I have a full back seat so yes, i have a seat...i am looking to camp at least one of the nights...and probably a hotel for one night so I can at least have one shower before getting back home.
