Just got the truck back with a little more work done: upper shackle pivot mounts reinforced, CO2 tank mounted, skidplates powdercoated. Was hoping for alot more pics and clips, but my photographer got called into work.

CO2 tank I got for free from sunperformanceproducts.com for running their sticker in the 1000, pretty sweet:

Shakedown at Dillon Rd (I don't like this video hosting site but Putfile's being retarded right now). Some of the videos look kinda weak, everything's rougher in the vehicle then on film, but some of the sections are actually pretty nasty. And I can't go too big yet with no cage...

....and I have no clue what the stupid buzzing is, sorry....
:

Number 4 and 5 came out lame, there was a rough section, then smooth, then rough, and I had my buddy stand in the smooth section to try and get both rough sections, but the dust blocked the second rough part. Oh well.

i love the skidplate bling, now you need some black wheels to go with your black grill and black skid scheme, next time you get footage your buddy should zoom in so you can see your truck

no to change topic but bajarnr12 do you think that there is enough play in those bedsides to cover a t100 axle w/ 35x12.50's i think you are running 33's right?

Definitely not without some creativeness, my 33X10.5's barely fit and we've got it flared out in the back about 6 inches more than stock just to fit the Tundra axle.

Dillon 3? Yah, those whoops are REALLY close together, they were made by mainly quads and bikes, I've got a pretty light rebound stack in the rear (.008) and the rebound tube is opened almost all the way, but the rebound still can't keep up when the whoops are that close together. So it packed up and kicked a little bit there. We've done quite a bit of valving changes, mainly in the front, and we've messed with all the tubes in the back. I preran the Superstition 250 course on some big whoops and it ran really smooth, and it was awesome on the 1000 course as well. It's good enough for right now, especially since I can't get too crazy with no cage yet. These videos didn't turn out that great, you can't really see the suspension working as good as I'd hoped. Next time I'll have my camera guy face the oncoming truck more. Then again, I'm also only using a digi camera, not a camcorder.

Oh and since these clips came out a little weak I put up a couple shots of the buggy testing before the New Year's race at Plaster City. Little better action.

Your Tacoma is definately one of the slickest daily driven prerunner/chase trucks that get some real use. You guys racing Laughlin in the 12 clar?...what # are you guys?

and if anybody is wondering about wider Tacoma bedsides, Glassworks is working on 7" flare bedsides and I should have the first set sometime soon.

Thanks man....

No, no laughlin for us this year. I'm gonna be real busy with school this semester, so I probably won't be racing till the 500, though I might do the Cabo 500 in April. I might come out and spectate or help out with friends cars at San Felipe or a superstition race, but I just won't have time for prerunning prepping and racing.

CO2 helps keep the muffler bearings cool.

It's for airing up the tires - compressed air.

It's actually NOS, the CO2 sticker is for the sleeper factor.

Sorry - yes, airing up tires, and running the impact gun I have in the toolbox. I might get a couple more air tools too.

12".....9" would have to run through the frame or below to cycle correctly

.....actually it is a 9". Troy has a tendency to "over-engineer" things. He likes doing things his way. Instead of running a 9" through the frame and moving the front spring hanger forward, he put the new hanger in the original location, ran the 9" over the frame, and got a longer driveshaft. I know, I know, don't ask.... it works, and works well, but it probably would have worked the other way too....

the reason you want to move the spring hanger forward is to center the axle in the wheel wells. at full bump your tires are probably pretty far back in the wheel well... but at full droop its probably pretty centered because the axle moves so much with the 62s throughout its travel. it wouldve been more cost effective to just move it forward than to get a new driveline, but to each his own i guess. do you have any idea why he opted to do it that way? the only reason i could think of was because the glassworks bedsides wheel well is a few inches further back than stock, so maybe he was centering the tire to that vs stock.

but yeah, it doesnt matter where the spring hanger is set up, as long as the shackle is mounted in correspondance with that (something like 61 3/4" from eye hole of the hanger to eye hole of the shackle, since the leafs are really 61.5" if i remember correctly)... and for what its worth, i have the 9" shackle as well, but i mounted mine under the frame. it should cycle the same, just a different ride height.

I have no idea, like I said Troy likes to do his own thing. We walked through a lot of things together, I designed the front bumper, we agreed on the layout of the bed and whatnot, but I let him do what he thought was best on the suspension, cuz he knows way more than I do about that.

Our prep guy makes those. Ronnie at Source Prep and Fab. Used to work for Porter Race Cars. His shop is right next to Demello's. I could get some prices if anyone's interested.

Ok I talked to Ronnie today, he doesn't have an exact price yet, he's still waiting on his machinist for a new batch, but he says probably around $60 - they're custom machined billet that bolt right on to the jack with the existing bolt and I believe one new bolt. Definitely fits Craftsman aluminum race jacks, and probably fits most aluminum race jacks.

Thanks. I may have to give him a call. I hated having to stack a bunch of wood underneath to slide the tranny in and out from under my Bronco's frame rails. Never felt safe doing that, and something like that jack extension would've really helped at the time.
