Decent pricing for sure, I wasn't expecting that. Maybe I can convince the parents to upgrade their Legacy ;)
I just assumed the price would be close to the Land Cruiser!
I know it' a totally different platform but I was not expecting that price!
I'm not totally sold on the look of the fJ, but thats secondary to performance in my book! I would still love to see it! I wonder if the production model will be identical to the prototype.
It funny this dealer letter is out because i just read an artical about the FJ. According to the artical Toyota has no intention on produceing the FJ unless Toyota changed their mind in the last couple months.

Sweet pricing. I'll take one stripped with just a locker. It says the MT comes with full time 4x4. So what is the AT, ADD? Is full time 4x4 with a center diff. Is it lockable. Or is really AWD. Not trying to start the 4x4 vs.AWD debate, just curious.
PS I want a couple cans of voodoo blue to paint my taco. This way it will match my nylint rock crawler

if anyone's interested, i have some pics of the underbody and front drivetrain taken at the la autoshow. to be honest, not very impressive. but at least it's priced reasonably.

Would you say that it is comparable to the tacoma, or is it more wussy like all the 4wd SUVs on the market today. You know the kind of stuff that looks like it would break if hit a parking block too hard. Lets face it, you could take a RAV4 on the rubicon if you where careful, and stacked enough rocks! Please post pics.

well, the drivetrain looks identical to the 4runner and taco (except the rear of course). but honestly, overall, i'd be embarassed to drive it, it looks like toyota hired some hummer h2 and h3 designers and let them loose. in other words, they tried too hard to make it look "cool." lemme find those pics.

Maybe I can talk the ole lady into getting one. she wants a 4-runner though, so I guess that will have to do for now.

the manual is full time 4wd with a center diff and an optional center locker. the auto is part time 4wd (im sure its most likely ADD) with an optional rear locker according to toyotas website.

to get the locker on one you have to get the upgrade package, the upgrade package is in addition to the convienence package.
base price 4x4 mt 23k
+ conv pkg 1.8k
+ upgrade pkg 2.5k
= 27.3k
after TTL = 28-30k?
not looking to cheap after all, unless the locker is offered as a stand alone option like the sliders. they stick it too you with the packages.

I love how they mark one of the advantages over the hummer is that is has overhead speakers. WOW! Now, THERE is a selling point.

Hell for the price of the packages you can regear, lock, lift and get some new wheels. Or do the first SAC.

In all honesty, I'm not too fond of the new FJs styling...They look capable, but honestly I'd rather have a 4-Runner.

Man, I was hopeing for somewhere in the 20k to 22k range. 4x4 + the rear locker is goign to cost 26K + tax and license. =(

All I want is a base 4x4 . I can lock it and swap stuff out later at my liesure at my pace and on my budget. To me this is easy, I don't like the way toyota packages stuff so I aint buying anything extra but the T-case and perhaps the sliders if the dealer will let me try my highlift out on them.
If I get the manual I am concerned about the full time AWD being compatible with current and future crawlers though I would expect this to be on the table for Marlin and inchworm. This may influence me to opt for another auto with a conventional T-case that must be the same as the 4-runner and the new Taco

I think I read Toyota invited bunches of aftermarket companies to measure the Fj, is this true? Will there be lots of off road stuff available??

hmmmmm i dont like the manual setup. i guess i will have to wait for them to get their heads out of their asses and build it like everything else. but if you go to the toyota website it appears that you can get it with only the rear diff as an individual option. i will be curious when these come out if that is really true

Toyota is making baby steps in the right direction, but they still don't get it... where's the diesel? A diesel would make even the '05 & '06 tacos better looking. Just imagine, a six cylinder (maybe even a turbo) in a midsize p/u or FJ... ahhh happy place. Still, nice effort on the FJ.

AM I READING THIS RIGHT!!!!!
REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCK (4x4 MT ONLY, OPTIONAL ON ALL OTHER MODELS).
....so then 4x4 with rear locker is only 22,890!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If this is the case, im certianly going to buy one... I thought the locker would be another 3k or something with that package.
