So i go to take the truck out this morning and didn't think to let it warm up. Once out of the drive way, 1st and 2nd i heard a clanking, claking sound. Is this just enging knock? What does it mean for the engine? Once I got to the stop sign and waited my turn the sound went away. Was it just the cold engine?

My '99 has been doing that a couple of years. I let mine warm up a bit longer these days.

My 98 Taco (w/261K) has been doing that cold weather noise thing for years. It stops as soon as it warms up. It doesn’t seem to be a problem since it only does it when it’s very cold. I have a 03 4Runner (V8) w/75K that has a similar cold engine noise. It also stops as soon as the motor heats up. I'm not going to worry about it.

Mine does the same until it warms up on cold days.
