im in the market for a lift the tacoma but i dont know if i want a 3 or 6 inch but if i do the 3 ill prolly wind up doing a 3 inch body lift to clear the big tires. i never have been a fan of body lifts. had one on my xterra and it never looked right so it seems to me that a 6 inch is the way to go but what about the wear on all of the components? how bad is it going to be although ill bet that the truck is too new for anyone to know... oh well just covering my rear. the xterra got so bad that i had to trade it in. (i think i like this truck more than i liked the xterra with almost 10 grand in it)
the two companies that make the 6 inch lifts are pro comp and fabtech. between the two of them who is the better?
if i go with 3 inch who would yall point me twards? im not looking for a spacer unless someone out there can make a strong arguement as to why it would be better that a coil lift. if i go this route i would prefer to have the adjustable coil over. i really like the donahoe lift coil but is there anything better performing out there?
thanks to all for any help that you can provide in advance.
ps. why dont we collect a list of all of the companies that are making suspension parts for the 05+ and post it as a sticky at the top of this part of our forum

really the type of lift you get should depend on the type of wheeling you do. a good way to go is with coil overs up front and a new leaf pack in the rear or an aal. their are great coil overs out there hoe"s saws fabtec and the like. if you look in the tech and faq folder you will find lots of vendors and links to all you need to know. the search button is your best friend,, i have used it more times than i can count. most of the time my questions get answered thru that. i'm sure some of the great 05 guys will chime in and help you out also not to mention all the other great people on here. have fun. an good luck with your truck.

I'm in the same ship, boats are for bubbleheads. I'm not sure which way to go with lifting my '06 Prerunner. I want to do 3" so I can fit 32's on her. With my old Jeep I went with Revtek's spacers and they worked great. My brother has the 03 Lib and it still runs great, but was thirsty. I plan to do the same unless I hear people having bad experiences with 05/06 Tacomas. Plus, this way only costs $300 to purchase and I'll have them installed at the same time I buy new tires so I can get a better deal from the mom/pop tire store my whole family does business with back in SoOre (So.Cal folks have SoCal I can flippin have SoOre).
Let me know if this is bad way to go. I'm also eyeing TuffCountry's 3" lift kit.

If you want to lift your '06 3" go for it--they look badass with a couple inches of lift--but FYI you can fit 265/75/16s (31.6" x 10.4") on an 05-06 Tacoma with the stock suspension. Most people call that "32s" and the next common size after that is 285/75/16 which at a hair under 33" does require lift.

tacoma trd 05 do you have any pics of the truck? i think this may be the way to go, less money than a 6 inch, less wear on parts that dont need it and i would love some 33 like the old truck maybe even bigger... where are you located at? what 3 inch SL did you go with? was it the performance acessories body lift that you are running? how is the power (need regear down the road)? hows the milage for ya?
i think thats enough questions for now lol thanks

yeah what he said ... I want to see a 3 inch body lift on top of a 3 inch lift.. I have a 3 inch lift and running 285/75/16 MTRs.. you can say it's almost 33s and I love the way it performs.. Testing her out in the snow this weekend..

hey my05taco! i am from china grove, nc. i went with the revtex 3" suspension lift. i anit quite sure what the name of the body lift i went with. i have the name of the shop and number if u need to talk to someone about it. they where very helpful and did a great job. i am new to all this. it rides good. the only thing that sucks is that it hurt my gas mileage alittle bit but i will get a bigger gear later on down the road to help with the mileage. i am get around 13 to 14 miles to the gallon now. i also have 20" wheels too and they are a heavy wheel. and the other thing i notice was the steering wheel is alittle shakey but its not too bad to worry about but they told me that will go away with time. it also think u can put 35's on the truck if u want. there is plenty of clearance with my 33's. i am planning on posting pics of my truck this weekend.
