I know this isn't "tech" and probably borders on "lame" but it's 100% specific to the new-model Taco's so hopefully y'all will agree that this is the best place for my question, other than keeping it to my mallwheeling self.

Here goes...
You know how the top edge of the tailgate is lower than the edges of the bed? Well when you put a vinyl tonneau cover on the bed, the metal frame sits an inch or two above the top of the tailgate leaving a big gap. In the interest of weather-resistance and aesthetics, has anybody come up with a solution they're happy with?

What type of tonneau cover did you get? I bought an access tonneau cover and I don't have any issues with gaps. It doesn't leak at all either.

Hmm, might be a function of the fact that I went with the cheapest one I could find on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8030209497&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT), a "Vector" for $80 + shipping.

I figured it would be a problem for all makes, though, since the tailgate sits lower than the rails. I guess the rear rail of the Access cover dips down to fill that gap or something? Can you post a pic? Maybe something in the design of that one will help me solve the problem with my cheapo.

I'll post a pic of mine before and after I solve the problem (which I will...) just to add it to the record for anybody else that buys the cheap one. My first thought is to stick a strip of the thickest weatherstripping I can find to the bottom of the rear rail.

=============================

Found the perfect solution: The weatherstripping for the bottom of garage doors. It's a hard black rubber strip in the shape of an "L" and each side is about 1.5". Glued and screwed it to the bottom of the rail and it sits perfectly against the tailgate. So proud of myself...now I'm gonna get me one of those "welder" thingamajiggys and SAS my shit.

You may need to remove the bed rail caps...

I haven't had the opportunity to take some pictures of my new tonneu cover. Here is a link to a similar tonneau cover to my access tonneau. It mounts and looks identical.
