That is cool, but you could also put MOG or Volvo axles in your Toy and get the same effect

I've looked into that but $$$ kills it for me.

nah, just build up your toy axles and forget about the extra 2" or so inches that you get w/ the portals. long wheel base, flex, and low gears will get you the same effect.

get some kamaz or BTR/GAZ axles shiped here from russia

why? cos you want to be original? it doesn't seem practical to get some axles that have a huge shipping price and don't have good support or people that know them in the US.

but it would be original... kinda like making a rock crawler out of a porche

*I was talking about the russian axle idea

The reason I'd like to have a WHOLE Unimog is cause they are cool looking. Some may think that they are ugly but I like them. I've came close to buying one a few times in the past, I know where one is in NC for $3500 on 39.5 Irocs. I wouldn't have any where to park it. I'd buy a M998 (USMC Hummer) if I had the cash too. Hell if had the $$$ there are alot of cool crazy 4wds and cars I'd buy, this is something that my wife doesn't like about me.. LOL

that wasn't a mog. its the replacment for the 5 ton. not sure what they are called but I saw them (the army) test them while I was stationed in Yuma. I lived on YPG which is a Army testing base, Yuma Proving Grounds. I saw some cool tanks and other new toys that'll be coming to a base never you soon.

I saw 3 of those things caravanning down 75 in GA. They look way more bad ass than a MOG.

The army test people drove the shat out of them. Every time I seen then they'd be wearing a full Bell race helet and there would be a trail of dust behind them. I really liked it out there in Yuma. Hot but fun, Joni is going to kill when I ask to get stationed there again in two more years.
