im looking at the bumpers for the 05 and so far i see that there are two ways to go. that is ARB or All Pro. i like the ARB because it looks alot more strong but the problem is that i have stock suspension for now and the weight of the ARB would prolly pull the front of my truck down a half inch or so. i didnt like the looks of the All Pro at first but i think its growing on me. With the addition of the Trail Armour Package that All Pro offers, now im leaning towards them.
Is there anyone on here that has an ARB or All Pro on their 05? if so could you post some pics of them? i know there was someone in here with an ARB install on an 05 but i cant find the post no matter how hard i SEARCH. yes i did before all the naysayers chime in. mostly i want to see more pics of the All Pro, it seems really high but that is not a bad thing. lol
If anyone can offer up some expierences with either bumper i would be very much appriciative of it. thanks to all.

i wonder if the all pro has means of hooking up some lights like the arb has? it's a nice looking bumper.

Just weld on some tabs. We aren't talking quantum physics here....

i do realize that this could be done by simply welding on some tabs for some lites, and does not require physics in doing so. it's just easier to be able to have that all ready done so you can just mount and wire them up.

Well I ordered my allpro on the 5th, and was initially told thay they were out, but were getting more early the next week and it would ship then (9,10,11). So I waited and after not hearing anything I called them on either the 18th or 19th (approximately). I was told then that they still weren't in and it would be another week or week and a half until it shipped. That was the last I heard. It's now the 27th, three weeks after my original order date and it still has not shipped  . I think it is a great looking bumper that appears very functional, but if you want it tomorrow, go with the ARB I guess. If I didn't like the allpro so much I would have cancelled my order by now. I guess my biggest bitch is that for an order of over $1000 (also ordered synthetic winch line and aluminum fairlead) no one bothered to even call me and tell me that it wasn't going to ship when they said it was. Customer service has been fine when I've called them, but I feel I shouldn't have had to call (maybe I'm expecting too much?). Anyway, both bumpers look good and functional, I think it comes down to personal preference and customer service. Customer service wise, TRDparts4U sells the ARB, and I have heard glowing reviews about them. I personally just like the looks and design of the allpoo better, which is the ONLY reason I am still waiting on it. If I am waiting much longer I may just cancel the order and get the ARB, and get my synthetic winch line and fairlead elsewhere. :2cents:

the thing that leaned me towards getting the arb was if i ever get into a head on crash god forbid, then the arb will crumple at the same rate as the factory bumper, thus the SRS airbag timing isnt screwed up. This means that i have a lot better chance of walking away from the accident alive. While the all pro bumper does not interfer with the airbags, it throws off the timing and the crumple rate does not match up with the stock bumper. This means that your head could be half an inch away from the airbag when the thing explodes  and that cant be fun... :( anyways, someone from all pro should confirm this because i dont want to be giving bad information, but arb is a big company that makes great parts, and advertises the fact that their bumpers match up with the stock bumpers specifications when it comes to crash testing... my :2cents:

I don't know...
While they may have done testing, and may have got it right,it's pretty hard for me to imagine that huge steel arb crumpeling at the same rate as the stocker tupperware.
Could it be that the bumper is mounted in such a way that the TRUCK crumples the same as stock regardless of what the bumper does?
If that's the case, then it's no stronger than stock at all, and a waste of time.
Now I'm confused!

a bumper on a 4wd truck does a lot more than just act as an impact absorber. It serves as a winch mount and as a hi lift point. What i meant in my last post is that the ARB bumpers dont mess with the factory crumple rate. If you get into an accident going 5 mph or maybe even 15 mph, the arb bumper should be fine and no crumpling would occur. However, if you get into a head on crash at 65 mph, and the bumper will crumple properly. my :2cents:

how does your bumper work when it comes to crumpling? Does it mimic the stock bumpers crumple ability?

the 05 arb bumper on the taco mounts completely differently than the arb unit for the previous generation tacos. I installed it with someone who installed an ARB front bumper on their old taco, and he was impressed at many more mounting points and how solid the arb 05 bumper was. As i do more and more winching, i will let you know how things turn out, but so far, i am impressed.

the hardest part for me was ripping off my stupid front bumper because i didnt wash underneath it very well so shit was constantly fall into my eyes (so wash it or wear safety goggles :)) mounting the winch was also a PITA (getting the washers and nuts to fit in there was tough). However, i like the bumper a lot and when other drivers see it coming down the road in your lane, they make sure to get out of your way ;)

Even after washing it the stuff kept falling into my eyes. There are a lot of hidden areas that dirt can get into, you'll discover them when you install yours.
My ARB is on, but due to time constraints the winch isn't.
I don't know why ARB doesn't believe in nylock for the non-load bearing stuff.
I took the baja plate off and there was about an inch thick of sierra mud caked on there and on top of the skidplate.
Mud......the gift that just keeps giving.
I'll post picks when the winch is on, but strangely enough they will look just like White_Eskimos, or sort of.

What's the weight of the ARB bumper?
ship is somewhere around 160#s, I am guessing the bumper itself installed is about 130#. You need 2 people to mount it. Stock bumper maybe weighs 10-20#s(?).
Without the winch my flare dropped 1/2", 35 without the bumper, 34.5" after.

:D did you run into any difficulties when installing? did you take pics throughout the installation? Did you drill the final holes into the bumper without the winch on it? I just went out to my truck and measured from the bottom of the tire to the center of the flare. It turned out to be a little bit over 37 inches. I have the Tuff Country spacer lift on it, so go figure. if the bumper is 130 and the winch is 88, then the big of sag makes sense... i will take a picture of the truck from the side to see if i can tell there is a difference.

I'm sorry we are out of stock on those bumpers, but please understand that it is a new product, and therefore hard for us to judge the demand for them. We sold out of the first 10 we had produced faster than we anticipated, and we are now waiting for the next order of 20 to come in (delayed by the sheet metal vendor). If you want to wait, I'll make sure you get the fairlead for free.
And just to clarify: our bumpers do not interfere with the factory airbag system other than the elimination of the factory bumper and it's ability to crumple/absorb impact, etc. The factory bumper does not have any airbag sensors though.

The stock 05/06 bumper is a POS piece of tupperware that will not protect your truck at all.
Here is my truck at AGR The Wheeling Ranch last weekend. The ARB bumper does not have the best approach angle.... But it is STOUT.
http://images.snapfish.com/345%3C%3A%3B676%7Ffp335%3Enu%3D3262%3E379%3E4%3A7% 3EWSNRCG%3D323352797485%3Anu0mrj
Here is the bumper stuffed into the dirt trying to bulldoze it up the incline in 4Lo. No damage, except some nice scuff marks.

The ARB does not have any shackle attachment points... So winching must be done from the stock point... Or you could fab your own.

The thread includes the pics of plasma cutting the ARB to clear 285/75/16 tires when stuffed. The tires stuffed on the trail rubbed the ARB, with SAW 2.0 coil overs at 3" of lift.
The ARB rep knows of the issue and has forwarded the info to Austrailia. If you are running 265/75/16 tires or smaller you will have no rub issues. If you are a street queen with larger tires you should not have a problem.

I bought the box in may of 2005, there were no other alternatives on the market at the time. It is the Toyota OEM box. $$$ It does mount to the bed rails. It is VERY STRONG. Somebody tried to crowbar their way in, it bent the aluminum top, and steel box, but did not pop the locks. Good thing because the contents out cost the box itself by over $1000. It still works great.

IMO the Allpro bumper has a better approach angle than the ARB. This is based on wheeling with my ARB, and looking at the pics of the Allpro. IMO I like my ARB.
Knowing how long it takes for a local fabricator (Rocktek Customs) to do their work, waiting for an Allpro or Demello product is worth the wait. I had to wait since May of 2005 for an ARB bumper for my truck!!

If you are a street queen with larger tires you should not have a problem.
im not that excited about that... my front end doesnt flex right now :( but i want to run 285/75s and not have to worry about rubbing when i get some new springs up front.

You will be fine. If you do cut the bumper it is not that difficult.
More pics of my truck with bumper, because I am a narcissist. :D

The box is moved back to hold 2 Nato jerry cans, and the tire. All are currently held down by ratched straps, to stanless U-bolts through the bed.

Any chance you could take a close up pic of the setup?? I'm pretty sure I am going to get that box when funds allow, and I want to explore my options with mounting.

I like to add that ARB is test to work with DOT and Airbag sensor safe. Not sure if All Pro has done this.

the thing that leaned me towards getting the arb was if i ever get into a head on crash god forbid, then the arb will crumple at the same rate as the factory bumper, thus the SRS airbag timing isnt screwed up. :( anyways, someone from all pro should confirm this because i dont want to be giving bad information, but arb is a big company that makes great parts, and advertises the fact that their bumpers match up with the stock bumpers specifications when it comes to crash testing... my :2cents:

What I really want to do (please give me your :2cents: on this) is fab a spare mount plate that slides into the rail system (and locks down) and will hold the spare in the back driver side corner of the bed. No one makes any fab-friendly rail slide-piece-thingies yet though. Any ideas?

well when there is mud locking the nut onto the bolt, and all you have is a socket set, things get a bit more challenging...

Ahah! I knew you were a mind reader...
That is what I have been putting off...
I want to mount my spare passenger side rear, to the bed rail.
I think it is a great idea, but put it passenger side. The fuel tank is on the drivers side, so try and balance out the weight in the rear.

All I have is a socket set. Take it to the car wash and power wash everything off before you start...

Yeah, the driver side heavy thing occurred to me as well, but I was trying to avoid blocking my power outlet on the pass. side (not that I use it that much). Also, looking over my shoulder and out the back window for lane changes, I think it would be in the way more on the pass. side.
Either way though, how can we make this happen? I have my full size MT/R spare sittin in my fiancees closet right now :D . Gotta figure somethin out...

Here are the pics of my spare and jerry cans. The Stainless U bolts are through the floor of the bed in the corners, that is what I strapped everything to. It works for now.

Thats f-ing hilarious, I guess if you post shit on the internet, it becomes public domain. I bet they would remove it if you asked them too. I would take it as a compliment, thats me though.
To get on topic, what happen to all the people w/ the 05+ taco's that were sold on the ARB, I know there were two or three, beside Matt that was going to get one. Where are they at? Post them up.

I have had mine on for a while now. One thing to note, the bumper brings the front end down due to weight. Had to put some hoes on to balance it out.

yep and i just wanted to point out that the arb required delrin rollers if you want to use synth rope with your winch. Delrin rollers replace the stock metal rollers on your roller fairlead, and i spent 90 bucks for mine. Anyways, here is a pic of what it looks like.

Can anyone chime in if they know if the All Pro bumper allows you to mount factory fog lights in the holes on each side of the winch?

IIRC, the new Allpro plate bumper has this option.
Here's one of the whole truck:

I e-mailed Terry Baker at All Pro Off Road asking if the 05+ Toyota Tacoma "Sheet Metal Style" Front Winch Mount Bumper alters the Tacoma's crush rate and air bag triggering when this bumper is installed. He said that the airbag sensor is a decellerometer not a crush sensor, so it wont affect the airbags. I would assume that it would be the same for their current hybrid tubular/sheet metal style fron mount winch bumper.
