skid plate / grill guard

Hi I need to know which one is more important, would it be the skid plate or the grill guard? I don't really go extreme off roading, but once in a while I go to snow, mud, sand, and forest. Please advice. thank you.

Depends, do you tend to hit stuff with the front or the bottom of your truck?
Grille guards are pretty much worthless, you will eventually want to go with a new bumper and they only cost a little bit more.
Not that I was much help.....

imho...skidplates. those factory "skidplates" don't look too tough to me. the grille is just there to look pretty, unless you hit something really hard and take out the rad.
