Just curious...How many, if anyone, are running body lifts with a solid front axle?

Got a 2". 5" susp with the SAS. But then again, I think Im one of the shortest SAS Tacos to date.

I'm also running a 2" bodylift with mine.
Do I like it? No, but it would be a pain in the ass to remove since I'd have to move my sliders and both bumpers are welded.

What size tires are you running?

I had a 3inch body lift with my SAS and I hated it. You could just feel that the center of gravity was too high. So right now I have cut off my sliders and am boxing in the rear frame and then lowering the cab. I am only running 35s so I don't need that much lift. In my opinion, drop the body lift. I would rather trim fenders than deal with body lifts. Just my opinion.

Why bodylift with SAS, just add a leaf.

I was just wondering b/c I already have a BL on my truck and if I decide to SAS my truck in the future if I should take the BL off or leave it on.

You can leave the BL if you like and just go lower with the suspension, or if you're going full width don't worry about it since you're center of gravity will be better anyways. Other than the standard problems associated with BL's I think really only your overall height/cog would be an issue.

Leave the body lift on, do a drivetrain lift, and end up with a flat belly!

tires, 42" IROKs :D
To relate back to normal reality... its ran 37's with the axle 2" forward, a flattened seam on the firewall, and very minor fender trimming at the back edge of the front fenders. Never ran it with the sheetmetal bed.
At this point Id like to drop it about 2". Its not unstable, just big. So when I lean it over I hit the roof and A-pillar on rocks, and the occasional tree.
Mike has a pretty decent idea, to leave the body lift and suck up the drivetrain. Our tcase is pushed up about 2".
Seriously though, I tend to run a much lower truck than almost anyone youll run into. I like em low, a bit wide, and the biggest tire that fits, plus a bunch. Last rig was about 4" lift, and 40's. Its sort of like driving an oversized go kart. There is a trade off. I tend to run fairly minimal uptravel in the suspension. This rig sits with about 2" compression. The suspension is built for droop. Rides fine, handles fine. Just hits the bumpstops when I jump it. But I probably should quit doing that! Yes, I have to cut sheetmetal. But thats good in 2 ways. If its not there, I cant dent it. And 2, Im nice and low, so I keep the broken windshields and crushed cabs to a minimum.

I do what I can, LOL.
Here's a good picture showing the height, or lack there of:

Here is Utah member Justin Morgan's truck on 36s:

That's a substantial difference.
Here is my truck (when it had 31s) next to Jimmy O'Lexey's:

He's on 37s and is kind of tall for the tires he's running.

I see, might as well leave it, it would be a hell of a lot easier.

I left my 2" on. Still not sure if I am gonna take it off. I was thinking of leaving it on in case I wanted to do my clutch again, but after the last ordeal, I will let the dealership mess with that.

I'm running a 3" body lift with mine but minimal suspension lift. The main problem with that is if you want to keep it low you will need to run pretty flat springs, and a "good" set of flat springs is hard to find. Keeping the bodylift is easier but I wish sometimes I could lower it but I'm to lazy to redo all my bumpers and whatnot. :p

I still have a 2" body lift... and i'm leaving it...haha well in about 2 weeks or so i'm clocking the T-case and running a flat bottom, and this will be easier with the body lift. I would say my truck is pretty low now, i dropped the syspention down about 3"s a couple months ago.... I would say my truk has a total of about 8" of lift, i had a guy next to me last with with ifs and 9"s total and also on 35's and he was a tad taller...

I had the 3" body on mine and it was just WAY too tall for 35's after the SAS. No since being that high when I had plenty of room without the body lift to tuck the tires. I prefer stability. I did leave it on until after the swap though to make sure I would get the lift I wanted.

hey,
i left by BL, and even with the axle moved forward 2" it still rubs with 37s. i agree completely with brian, lower is so much more stable. i have a rock buggy that has 2" of uptravel and full-width 1 ton axles, all yota. stable as can be. on my taco i am planning on cutting everyting to lower my truck 1", but that is all. i like the BL, and i keep most tires planted with the travel my rear chevies afford me. 3" would be a bit much unless i was running 40s and full-width axles, but 2" is perfect for what i do. keep it or chop it in half, but i would still run at least 1" of BL to fit those bigger meats.

I've got a 3" performance accessories b/l right now with 3" suspension (IFS).
I plan on removing it after my SAS. I may put 1" roger brown pucks in their place though. Tires seem to clear easier with a b/l. My rig felt a lot more stable without the b/l. Probably just b/c of a lower center of gravity.
