Shooting trip. March 19 (sunday).

Ok, planning a shooting trip. Bring anything you want to shoot, some ammo, targets, etc. Planning on going out to the Pawnee Buttes area east of Fort Collins. Its a nice area and good for shooting. May have a clay thrower to shoot some clays.

Also probably bring a tarp or shooting blanket to keep the area clean and to pick up the shell casings. If anyone's interested, post up and I'll have a more definite time and meeting location depending on who's coming, where from, etc

Um, I'll have to use someone elses guns since I haven't yet purchased my own. That too costs money which I seem to have none of. :rolleyes:

What would you buy for a gun? What price range? etc.

Hey, I'm open to suggestions. Pawnee is the only place I know of to go shooting without accidentally aerating any houses, farmers, Nebraskans, tractors, cows, or other misc. livestock. I hate the front range...
Is there somewhere else suitable?
Somebody bring some black powder dammit! I feel like a little nostalgia!
If we could get a bunch of folks interested in the trip then collect pitches from everybody we could shoot all day.

Pawnee is the best open range to go free of charge...unless you want to gun down some trees in the forest and play ricochet challenge!
The shooting range out at Owl Canyon is $65 a year and requires $35 NRA membership as well...most other private or public ranges are under 250 yards...and usually not suitable for the fire power you guys unload!

Lol! I almost hunted some buffalo with my 'carr'....couple weeks ago a few of them had gotten out of the fence and were on the I-state south of Cheyenne...I get the feeling they would have wrecked the Taco- Armorology bumpers or not.
But yeah, you're right, there really are no other suitable places for firearm recreation on the front range. You can shoot anywhere in the SLV, or on the western slope in general once you get away from the urban sprawl. I refuse to pay a range fee unless I'm sighting in or shooting trap. Pawnee is the place to be.

Bah! The weather would've sucked for shooting anyway. Some guys from yotatech drove all the way up from Texas to go snowboarding during spring break here, and they've been sleeping in an Exterra! That's how good our ski season is! The snow is just too damn good this season, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let it go to waste. So I'm going riding this weekend instead of shooting. then perhaps some gambling at Blackhawk! YEeeeahhhhh
We'll be better off shooting in the summer anyway. Remember, it's gonna be a cold, unforgiving bitch out in the flatlands Sunday...

Yup, skiied today at eldora, then went down to Blackhawk for a lil gambling with Heather, her dad, and her step mom. Was a damn fun day. So I'm thinking a lil better weather for shooting. Friggen white out on the way back tonight.

Every inch of my body hurts from boarding on Sat (totally worth all the pain :D )... and then to top it off I just got back in town after sitting in non-moving traffic for 2 hrs right after Idaho Springs and the 4 hrs of interesting driving between there and GJ...

We didn't go. My sunday turned into a big drunken waste of time. I didn't go riding, shooting, or gambling. 0 for 3, that's pretty bad. I'm not sorry I missed the I-70 traffic though, I was dreading it.

It wasn't the usual traffic that I hit coming back down. I left a little later to avoid the rush and wound up sitting in traffic for 2 hours between hwy 6 to Golden and the Floyd Hill exit. They had shut I70 down and re-routed traffic to hwy 6 after I passed it. But Sat was worth all the headache coming back on Sun. I am just ready for summer... my luck by the time the snow stops I'll already be relocated to GJ. Oh well such is life, could be worse.
