Well I just got off the phone with Nate and after work (I get out early today) I will be putting down my deposit for my TC front end kit at about 1 pm today and it should be installed by next week :D I'll try and keep this updated even though I probably started this too early...
Here's what I'll be putting on that I have now...

That is the same kit, I just got really really busy and didn't have time to get cracking on it. The water bottle is for scale haha, no I have not slept with the control arms and since this is Part 1 the canti will NOT be included in this thread, sorry.

It's about time you made your own damn thread and stopped jacking everyone elses!! lol jk....sort of
So I'm out at home for one more summer; good news is I'm at my shop which means massive suspension testing/adjustments, so you'll have to come out for some test days. That is unless my truck is getting caged, which means I won't see it all summer :(

Nah, was hoping maybe caged over Christmas, but that didn't work out. So hopefully this summer. The problem is Troy Johnson who did all the previous work is pretty busy with his fab school so I don't know if he would have time. I'm thinkin maybe OC Offroad; the owner/financial backer is the dad of one of my best chick friends at school. (who's also super hot, I'm starting to think I'm shallow.... ;) (see girlfriend thread))

Engine cage is on the list although my upper mounts are just the regular adapters that are bolted into the stock bucket. I'll take some pics when I get home though if you want, no problem. I'm running 8" not the 10"s.

Not all of it. I don't have a lot of time on my side during school to tend to my truck. I get the weekend, sometimes haha. So most likely no. And yes I will be running a dual shock set-up later, I just wanted to get the stuff out of my garage on and my truck for now.

No, they are Glassworks. They make different sizes than what's on the website. Bajarnr12's are 4" as well, don't worry about it.

i want to do the body lift soon. but i have some things to make sure will work first. i order the blocks drilled for 1/2" hardware, i just have to pull a cab mount apart and see what kind of mods i have to do to make that work. if the bushings ar sleeved at the center than i have to track down some larger sleeves to accomadate the larger bolts. that aside all i need to do is pick up some steel for the radiator brackets. so i hope it will be done next week.

how come you dont go with the 12.50's? They will do better in sand and the 10.50's look really thin.

He would have to regear to be able to push the 12.5 around. He has a 4cyl, and its' a prerunner. No 4lo to turn wide tires. I am not bashing you, but I swear, there are too many people who have never used their trucks enough to undertand how the truck is a whole package, and changing one part affects every other part of the truck. And a 12.5 with lots of tread is like a boat anchor in sand unless you can spin the wheels and steer them. Like you said, the 12.5 LOOK good/ wide. They don't necessarily work good.

I have a question regarding your rear susp. set-up.
I'm not sure if/when you changed it while going LT but you had a nice setup...
was it SAW remoter res's, relocated for high speed not crawlin ovbiously, and deavers???
if so can you post me some pics to check out your relocation
if not any info appreciated...
just trying to decide what to do in the rear with the 9 pack i got as far as shocks...
thanks

Better sidewall protection when aired down, I dig the skinnier look, cheaper, keep the same rims, 4 banger, and I do fine enough in the sand now with 10.5 wide tires...I'm not trying to sound like an ass but I have my reasons.

My rear set-up I assume you're referring to...oh ok, yes, my signature changed because I have the parts I'm just going to throw it all on when I get my 62's, so I still have my 7100/Deaver set-up ON the truck but I figured I'd change it just cause I could :p
Sure here you are...and whatever you do (don't buy SAW ;)) but that's just one guy's opinion...they don't call them leak-a-ways for nothing :2cents:

If you dig this set-up and don't mind putting out about $400 for the shocks, get the 180 or 225 valving (depending if you like a soft or stiffer ride) those two are pretty good for high speed but 205 passenger and 210 driver side is money. But if you won't want to re-valve just go with one of those...any more questions let me know. I haven't had a lot of time lately due to tests/finals coming up so my fenders are now primer black my bumper/grill is still busted my lights don't work LOL so once the summer rolls around I'll be looking into my rear set-up but now the 7100's and Deavers hold up just fine for me.

fire extinguishers! haha I sorta almost set some shit on fire being retarded...only burned about 30 feet of wiring and nothing more, oh and a wire for my dixie air horn  but it's cool just smoke was pouring out of the cab/engine bay haha no flames, so that inspired me to do that haha. I got 2 one for each side in the cab :) I dunno why it's 10 pounds though I ordered (2) 2.5lb'ers
Need to keep your shit safe!! Good job..
They say they are 2.5lbs.. but they are a little heavier than that.. the ABC powder inside should equal that amount.. the can weights a little bit more..
You sure you know how to use those things.. They can be kinda tricky.. also.. did they come with a hose or do they have a lil knob.. :p
because you can't tip them upside down.. due to the pipe that is going down to get up all that nice powder to put out your fire.. he he
Hope you bought a decent brand.. There are some out there that are crap!!
Truck is lookn' good.. really good..!! :)

so it looks like a couple weeks form now 3 at the latest.
i might try to get up to LA this weekend to fix alex's locker, i'm pretty sure it just needs to be cleaned freed up and all that, should be simple.
as far as caging the rear well i want to tie it in to roll protection too...i was 5 hours down in baja going 16 hours down and my buddy in front of the truck i was in got forced off the road by a semitruck and rolled 4-5 times:eek: mexican hospitals, federales, ambulancias...not much fun but every one survived miraculously. It was anissan Titan and in the wrecking yard you could barely saee it behind an escort.

For all 3...To Tweeter and Miguelitro: I think I can(know I can ;) ) use 1-3/4 to make a true roll bar right behind the cab, down to the frame. It could easily carry a spare tire, gear, fire extinguisher, etc. With a bed removal, we could make the thing removable for the future... not just welded in to death. And we would keep like 85-90% of the bed space open. The top bar has to be 1-3/4 if I am going to seriously say it will reduce your risk in a rollover. But I know for sure, it will be there waiting for a second helping if you do step over the edge. It won't help with the A-pillar collapsing, but I think that can be adressed without too much intrusion into the cab, unless you want SCORE rules spec. As to Elenex... I bet I can make a bumper for the back of your truck that is as good as the front.... The rear is pretty easy. And yes Mike... we could still fit a dirtbike in the back...

Hmm sounds interesting. Reminds me of a guy that caged the cab from the back up until right behind the seats and tied it to the frame so his head wouldn't get squished. Worked well actually, it got tested LOL. I think I'd just cage mine later on in the future...although I was thinking a bed bar for extra dust lights, hi lift jack antennas and fire extinguisher there though.

Tweeter how do the fox's work on your truck?
I will be LTing soon and will prob go with Camburg cause I like the boxed lower and will be keeping the 4x4 (flame on!). I'm trying to find a shock that will give me the most travel and ride the best. I will go all out the the first time and get the second shock hoop and bypasses. I have no complaints. Honestly I'd go with the Radflo's though since they offer a 6 month free re-valving service and Glenn knows what's up over there. Hey I have burgler's now and have beat the crap out of them and they still ride great! The TC lower arm is too small looking to me I like the boxed. I think someone on Dr said to use the TC upper and burg lower for a chaosburg kit or some shit like that.
Fox only has one shock right? they are all the race quality ones? Where as King has the prerun and race shocks.
I'm thinking radflo But I will have to see what size's they come in. Plus later this summer my brother and I are going to build his Ranger :gasp: into a little prerun/race truck so I will need some C/O for that too. Hmmmmmm

Yah going with an LS1..... http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
j/k, i wish...
Replacing motor mounts, servicing tranny, double-shearing upper-arm bolt, installing TC steering rack bushings, sending motor off to FAT (for what???? hmmmmmmm http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/images/smilies/driving.gif ), uuuummmm let's see, what else.... oh yah, probably headers, probably short-throw shifter, some coil-bucket gusseting, shock resi relocating, maybe battery relocate, burning the K&N and going with a race-style canister filter, maybe gusset some random shit, maybe an over-the-motor shock brace, maybe some dynomat, a whole lot of krylon semi-gloss black, perhaps new gears, clearance for 35's, I dunno, the possibilities are endless - gonna be a busy summer. http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Basically gonna take advantage of having the motor out of the way and go crazy on the thing.
As for shocks, I would go Fox or King, nothing else. Wait till Radflo's get proven.

Um actually I'm not sure yet, we've discussed a couple options. They will be at least going through it and making sure I didn't sand the motor out, and from there, I'll let you know what happens once it does happen. Yah I'm leaning toward the URD shifter...

I'm still working on how I'm going to mount some 2.5's under the bed, like tweeter's and TLT Jesse's 4runner. And should have my skid mounted on the front bumper tonight so I should have some pics if It's not too late. You will like the Sign I have for my skid plate, it's very fitting!

My truck isn't paid off LOL. You can hijack too Tim it's cool haha but no one else! Just build a x-member and mount the shock mounts as high up and as low down as you can :dunno: that's...about...it. Are you afraid to cut holes in the bed or what? I don't want to because mine isn't paid off and won't be for a little bit haha. From here on out all of my actions will be kept a secret until you guys see pictures haha or a video or me driving down a dark street really fast so you have to really look to see what I've done :D

Yes this time I am keeping it a secret. Hopefully I'll pick up my parts next weekend but it won't go on for awhile :D it's coming off yet ANOTHER 1450 caliber truck haha my trucks the orphan child of 1450 truck parts handed down oh well...yea Blitz will be doing the rear and cage or whatever comes first...I'll probably do the rear since it will be cheaper, what stroke coilovers does that kit use? 8 or 10?
lol I'm in the same boat. Parts just collect over time and they are hand me downs. Best way to save some money. I actually named the beater "loose change" as an inside joke of how much money gets put into these things. Maybe your black beauty should be named "orphan child" if it doesn't have a name already? lol

My '04 isn't either. The funny thing is that instead of cutting the bed to go LT...we cut the front crossmember for my Tuff Country  :missingto

I'm kind of afraid but not too much the big thing for me is when I decided I need alot of travel and a full on bed cage I will pull the bed as a whole and sell it and just put some glass bedsides on. And now I'm going to alot of races (pitting and spectating) and camping and what not and used my bed all the time so I would like to keep it intact. I will own this truck forever so I'm not too worried about oweing money on it.
What size shocks did you use? and what are those 7100 short bodies running?

I will be running the rear for a while probably until the truck get's torn down and fully caged with some LT action, which is a while off.

The 10" works great I'm just saying you can fit 12's under there with about an hour more work, so you might as well get as much as you can you know? The 10" cost the same as the 12" anyways, it's really up to you though
Oh ok I will do the u-bolt flip too while I'm at it.
Yeah I don't feel like working today so I have been looking at prices. where did you get your's or where have you seen the best price?
How would it be an hour more? I still have to take my leafs apart, cycle, and build new upper and lower mounts.

Dave when are you thinking of coming out here to revalve your shocks? And you should call Fox and ask them what they normally put standard in those C/Os so that we can get shim stacks accordingly beforehand. And just so you know they've shut down all the local desert spots around here so there's not really any good places to test once we get the shocks all done. I guess you could drive over a pallet or something in the yard here....

Doesn't matter engine size it's for the rear. I got this info after a buddy of mine was running about 200/205 valving because he got his from a dude who had a triple bypassed front and ditched the Bilsteins. He had them custom valved and I rode in my truck then his and his was a little nicer since it was a bit stiffer but I don't mind the plush ride :)
Hmmmm....
Well I called a guy local to me Raceshock (http://www.raceshock.com/) and he gave me a decent price and is willing to order the shocks with custom valving but that will take longer to get them in. I think I might start with the 180 and see how I like it and revalve from there.
I need to stop welding in short sleeves! I'm getting a farmers tan on the inside of my biceps and elbows!!!

Yea just start at the 180, it's not a bad ride at all just a little soft for some but I like a softer ride, that's just me. Haha yea me too the sun's coming out again it was raining all last week...major WTF? haha
I have a pretty soft ride now with the stockers and the 5125's so Hopefully it will be a good fit with the 9 leaf deaver's.
Shit I'm in AZ the land of the sun! But it did rain a week or 2 ago which is very weird for this time of year! I can't wait for the monsoons to start next month! 80% humidity stormy and still 110 out! now that's WTF!!!!

Yea it was really random and it was cold and everything and it had been 80-90. What part of AZ are you in? Scottsdale, Tuscon, Flagstaff, Phoenix? I used to live in AZ for a couple months way back when I just had my RC cars haha. Ouch 80% and 110...bet that feels LOVELY! Are you going to do the relocation yourself?
I live in Mesa. I lived in Sacramento for about a year, it was nice I was an hour from 5 different ski resorts. And I got to check out a few VORRA short course races they had in Prairie city, that was alot of fun!
relocate to Cali? Hm I don't know it's not in the works as of right now. I'm buying a house this summer and my GF still have a few years left in school. I don't know I like AZ I'm used to the heat I guess.
Tweeter

Right on, I want to take my truck out there sometime it's getting crowded here haha. Yea the heat's not bad as long as it's not humid I have no problems with AZ...maybe next time we have a run near glamis or whatever you should roll out with us sometime
I'm down! Oco is close enough for me but Glamis next winter would be alot of fun!
Barstow is a little far (400 miles or so one way) but I might make that if it's something special.
There are a few places to go out here and I have been trying to keep my eye open for more, Hell I need to get some topo maps and google earth places close to phoenix and see what I come up with. There are more 4x4 crawling trails than go fast stuff that I know of, but I will find some new places.

Dunes don't scare me! I have 4x4 and I'm not afraid of the rev limiter!!!! Hell I almost got stuck my last trip to Gordon's with my truck and a trailer full of 2 quads and a weekend full of gear! man that sucked! but the Taco pulled through like a champ!

I've never done them but a couple guys I know have and did it in a couple hours..you must have gotten the wrong ones or you were just being retarded :dunno: haha
Dude I swear I think it was the most frustrating thing I've ever done to my truck. I think I maybe was supposed to take off the outer tie rod ends or maybe some other crap, but first it was a pain getting the rack off and the old bushings out. Then the new ones won't go in. One side will go in but when you put the other side in it pops the other side off, and so on and so forth, so I try to put one side of each bushing on and try to use the rack bolts to pull the other side on, that doesn't work, so I take it off again, use c-clamps to press both sides of the bushings in, which sort of works, but one side still wants to like ooze back out slowly, so I get them on, start to put the rack back on, the horizontal bushing gets pushed out by the bolt, and the vertical bushing goes in but one side is all boogered and is overlapping the tab, that's not gonna work (oh and I had to wrap a ratchet strap around the rack and tighten just to get it back on). So I try it again, get it mostly on, and the one bushing still won't slide between the tab (this is after I hit on the tab with the hammer to open it up alittle bit). By then I was throwing shit and had hit my head about 5 times on the same damn crossmember bracket and it was time to go home. I'm gonna be really pissed if there's some easy way to do this that I just can't figure it out. I probably was being retarded.....

tweeter you would probable be the right guy to ask this because your a desert guy with 2wd, i have a trd prerunner and i am only interested in dunes/desert stuff but i just don't know if, before dumping thousands into a truck, i should wait 2 or 3 years and sell my truck when i am able to afford a 4wd and not look back wishing i would have waited. so my question is if you could go back would you have waited until you could buy a 4wd instead?

No I still would have bought the truck I bought, I have no regrets. 4WD would be nice to have but I don't NEED it. If you're going to be playing in dunes more than the open desert I would invest in 4WD. Since I don't and am locked in the rear, I have no problems getting around. Also 4WD would've been more $$$ to build up ;)
