Looking to get 4.56 gears for the rear (I have a pre-runner). Just wanted to know where some of you got it done and what you paid for it. I know 4wheelparts can do it but if I'm not mistaken, I think the only brand they carry in 4.56 are Genuine gear, which is pretty much taboo!! I can always order gears online (precision perhaps) w/ the master install kit but that might be more of a hassle because of my location.

Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

Are you regearing because of a lift/bigger tires?

Hey ya, i'm wondering the same thing as P808. I want to regear because im getting bigger tires to go along with my lift. Just wanna find a good place to do it with a decent price. Mahalo, kai

Right now, I'm running 32x11.50 and it's not necessary to regear for that. But, I'll be moving up to 33's in the future because I'm lifting my truck higher.

I got two quotes from 4 wheel parts and Maui Off Road. I've searched and read what a lot of other people were paying to regear and it's a lot cheaper on the mainland.

4 Wheel parts:

Precision 4.56 REAR ring and pinion w/master install kit $900 (price includes labor)

Genuine- about 70-80 bucks cheaper

Maui Off Road:

Precision 4.56 REAR ring and pinion w/master install kit $895 (price includes labor)

you should try pacific auto. if u bring them just the 3rd members i think u can get it done for cheaper and they do a good job.

Are they? I've gotten alignment from them before and they were pretty pricey. But yeah, I've only heard good things about them.

I'm not gonna re-gear now though. I'm waiting until summer. My friend and I are gonna install the TC 5" on my truck. Thinking about getting the All-pro 5" rear leaf springs because I don't want the block.
