Anybody have any tips on stuffing a front strut in place with a 2" spacer on top. I've tried using the bottle jack inverted on top of the upper control arm but it goes down only so far before contacting the coils. Has anyone ever tried unbolting the lower ball joint, bolting in the strut, then use a floor jack to compress it to bolt up again? Does that make any sense? Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey Lance! I thought we already had those things installed on your truck....whew..that sure was a pain in the ass! You might want to try to remove the sway bar and use a breaker-bar of sorts to push down on the lower A-arm to allow the spacer/shock to fit. Best if you have more than one person..in your case, it took 3 of us to install them for your! LOL! :D

Hey man, sometimes it can be tricky. Last time I had to stuff my coilovers back in (3"), I was trying to do it by myself and had a pry bar between coils on top of the control arm pushing down. It slipped out and popped me right in the jaw. Damn that sucked. Anyways, if you have a second set of hands it makes it WAY easier. bolt up the three upper bolts... then have someone else push down on the control arm while you line up the bottom bolt and slip it through. Last I had to do it I spent over an hour trying to get it in... the bar slipped and popped me in the jaw, I gave up until like an hour later when my roomate got home... with the second set of hands it took about 2 minutes lol

Anyways, let me know if you want some help, I'll swing by.

You're not kidding! Spent all day Saturday just trying to unbolt those coils from the shock. Then trying to stuff it all back under the truck was a whole new problem. If I remember correctly, didn't we also have to pry the bottom of the shock upwards to bolt it in?

Hey Seth-My bro inlaw was supposed to swing by last night to help out but he flaked. I'll see if he's gonna make it tonight....he's 19 so seems to always be out with his buddies. How far of a drive is it for you?

I'm should be home after 5:30 - if you guys want to meet at my place maybe the 3 of us can wedge that bitch in....don't know how without some kind of spring compresser but we can try.

Yep - we had to do some serious manuvering to get them installed, most because the shocks you have are from a double cab so they are a bit stiffer than those for an extra cab which makes them more difficult to install with a 2" spacer. :D

Another interesting thing we found out the other night was the DC were a little shorter in lenght than the Xcab Bills...duno why that would be?

You might also try a combination of the bottle jack and wedging, all at the same time. That worked for me...

We ended up unbolting the lower control arm near the ball joint, bolting up the bottom of the shock, and then used a floor jack to compress it up and bolt it back together. Was pretty easy once we got to the other side. Ride quality is pretty bad, but it'll do until I get some saw's. :)

Lance - I might have a set available to you in a couple weeks..if you are interested. Hell, you have pretty much every thing from my truck at this point..might as well get my saw's also!

Drop me an email and we can discuss. :D
