Very Short notice: Eagle rock 4/2/06

Well my brother and I have decided to dust off the old Bronco and Taco, head out and do some wheeling tomorrow.

We will be heading up to Eagle Rock for the first time. Neither one of us has been up there before; go figure its right up the road.

If any one wants to go, let me know. I figure we will head out of the Springs around 9 or 10am. and get back, when we get back.


I don’t now what to expect, maybe it will be bunk, but a bad day wheeling is always better than a good day working :)

ummmmm i dont live in the springs but isn't that going to be pretty snow covered still? i remember trying to do that in february last year and there was 3 feet all over everything...

Yeah, we are both kind of worried about that, but wont know until we check it out.

Although it is April, so i am hopping we are in luck. We'll see.

Mt Herrman Rd has been impassable in April because of snow. That was a couple years ago. I don't think you'll get the whole way.

I'm going to get new tires before I venture very far. I found out the limits of the well worn ones I have on the truck now at Superlift ORV park a couple weekends back. I know better than to go up without good tires now...

Yeah, it was cool seeing ya. The grille is cool.

Yes, that was from my first year in CO. Almost losing the truck that is. Those pics are from near the very top of Mt. Baldy one of the FR 379 roads I think. It's narrow up there too. I think you'll be okay on the lower part of Eagle Rock. I doubt you'll get much higher. I remember there is one section up past the first obstacle that is a bit off camber and tends to hold the snow well into late spring.

Usually the crazy jeep guys run it and post up about it. I didn't find anything on it though.

Eagle rock is passable, ice in a lot of spots.. however after this week's weather it shouldnt be too bad at all.

Well it was a good little run and well worth my time.

There was a bit of snow toward the top and in the shade, but nothing too major.

We had a great time.

I will say that Eagle rock is a bit ruff and some of the bypasses where snowed in, made for some fun times.
