Day run sat April 8th! [Archive]

Just wanted to solidify this run on a clean thread.

Post up if you are going so we can confirm a head count.

Saturday April 8th day run to Ocala and wherever else:

JAX guys meet at 8am at the Kangaroo station at the corner of SR 21 and SR 215 (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&formtype=address&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&cat=&address=SR+21+and+SR+215&city=middleburg&state=fl&zipcode=) outside of middleburg to head to g-ville together to meet up with Ryan. (except you Iggy unless you can fallow the link to the gas station, or if you still wanna meet with me at my place then that is fine...:p Just let me know.) If you need to be late call or post up before hand because if you are not there by 5-10 after we are heading out!

Guys coming from the south meet by 10am at 326 and I-75. (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&country=US&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&addtohistory=&cat=&address=NW+77th+st+and+I-75&city=ocala&state=fl&zipcode=) I think there is a Kangaroo there also but whichever gas station looks most prominent.

Any questions just post up or PM me. Wheeling should be mild-moderate but I think it is supposed to stay dry so everything should be pretty doable for everyone. Of course the risk for pin striping and body damage is always there so be prepared for that. Also be sure to bring plenty of supplies, I.E. WATER, food, WATER, extraction gear, WATER, bug repelent, WATER, and anything else you may need, Oh ya, and WATER!!! It is going to be warm if not hot and I have been on too many trips around here where guys are dumb enough not to bring any water and they get dehydrated and have to bum off of everyone else. Also try to have a CB, we will be on CH 17 for those with radios. Makes things much nicer if everyone has one. If not its not a huge deal. Looks like it may be a small group which will be really nice. Should be a lot of fun. See ya on saturday! Later.

If this is true we're in. I'll have Emily with me so I hope we see some stuck jeeps. I just love hearing her say "jeep stuck?" and hate hearing "daddy stuck?". The Runner is my DD now so I can't wheel it as hard as I have in the past but that doesn't mean I'm going to wheel it like a b!tch.

trust me I would love to, but I want to take my time and redo everything 100 percent and address all the points I've wanted to for a while. instead of just fixing one little thing and trowing it back in there. It hasn't been a hundred precent for a while now and I want it to be and to stay that way once it's back together. I usually get in a hurry because I want to drive it or take it out again and then I trash something on it. It's only been apart a few days now and I already want to put it back together so I can drive it. lol

least this way it will be ready for the next time and I will be actually be able to do stuff with it for a change. :D

Pat has a silver 03 Rubicon on 35" SSR's. He's going to getting a 85 or so 4Runner very soon so he can park the Rubi on the base sale it your self lot. He already found a 85 on autotrader for $3500 but there isn't any pics of it so he's waiting on the pics. He also just sold his 02 CR250 so I'm out of a dirt bike riding buddy.

bad news... my head gasket is leaking coolant. i'm gonna try to seal it w/ some block sealer or something. it's just an excuse to rebuild the motor w/ a crawler cam. i have to change my above post to a maybe (if the leak gets sealed w/ the crap i try) :(

not leaking into the cylinder, just onto the exhaust manifold from the bottom of the head. seems weird since i didn't overheat it... got pretty close when i discovered the leak tho

crap! and i haven't ever done any engine work in my life... i'm gonna need a FSM

You might want to try and re-torqueing the head bolts in sequence. It may re-seal or not.

Well.... I have some not so good news too.

When replacing the CV I found the retainer for the snap ring on my hub is partially broken off, but I think it will be ok. But the CV wouldnt go all the way into the hub so I could get a snapring on it. I'm going to get the CV I broke warrantied tomorrow and see if that one works. The other is from Neil's 86 but I thought they were all the same :confused:

Either way I'm going on the trip! I will ride shotgun with someone if I have to!!

If you have a hub it might be a good idea to bring along an extra one just in case. I also need one of the nuts that hold the CV to the center section, I lost one in my parking lot :rolleyes:

guys, i'm gonna do it right. i'm gonna have the head decked and pressure tested for cracks. i can't have that all done by Sat.

i REALLY wanted to take my truck cos nothing has denied me since i got the front dshaft in. That's not good motivation for a further build.

i was considering riding shotgun, but i'll just start labeling crap and begging my parents for $$ to start my rebuild($300 engnbldr ebay kit), i'd rather put a taco engine in.

Ok Ladies...

So I am guessing you Jax guys will be here around 9:30 so we can meet up at the gas station. Bryan do you know what gas station I am talking about or do you want some specific direstions or a map?

I should be good to go by then, I have to go to Advance to get another idler arm because I destroyed mine at Moonscape today :D But that is a super easy 15 minute fix.

Also, because curiousgeorge isn't comming anymore and I don't know of anyone else comming from the south there is no point to go to the exit to meet nobody. IF YOU ARE COMMING FROM THE SOUTH AND NEED TO MEET US AT THE INTERSTATE POST UP BEFORE TOMORROW MORNING!!! If no one posts we WILL NOT be going to the exit!! Or if you want to feel free to call me 321 960 5866 and let me know so we can meet you. I don't want to leave anyone behind.

Welp, we went by Alpha and its most definately posted.

Then we ran the loop at Bravo and afterwards headed to the moon. There were a ton of people there so we mostly hung out ran the sandy loop out back and then left. It was a super nice day out on the trails.

No real carnage, some dents and whatnot. I destroyed another POS TRW idler arm :rolleyes:

Yeah it was fun. My POS Runner kept running hot on t he way back and I have no clue why. The fan was working like normal, it boiled over once right out side on G Ville past the airport. I had to ride back to J Ville with the AC off cause it ran TOO hot with it on and with it off at 70mph the needle would be between the middle or close to the RED.

Took me a while to figure out where it was too. But it is in that little pit on the west side of the trails where it is normally full of mud and you have to climb out on that hill. I don't know how he did it either :confused:

I think it should be shown, rigs flip when doing this stuff so it should be shown. Why only show the easy stuff were nothing happens and make teens or newbs think that nothing can happen like rolling over.

The problem is that the property this is taking place on is privet property and there are liability issues that could cause the land owner/operator to get sued. If they get info that people are using the property and displaying it publicly they will be forced to post it no trespassing. I don't want that and I am sure you don't either, but when pictures of people rolling their junk out there start popping up what do you think is going to happen.

I watched it happen with the A pit and I am sure that it won't be the last to be closed.

I don't want this to be a debate, I just want to help keep this place open.

That is the date that my SAS work/plannnig will go into full swing. Actually it will be may 5th. I may go but I might just ride along with someone depends where I am with the work, I'm thinkg about pulling the diff/cvs/driveshaft around then to clearance the CV joint and stuff. Or maybe I could go break something??

Also, I drove by the pit across the street from BPit and noticed that someone had pushed over the grass on top of the hill that is hiding the old access road. Me and one of my buddys from Gator are going to check it out on our bikes this Friday.
